    Tank Bolts

Thanks for the link for 2/3 gear mod
I have juz replaced my upper tank bolts with the Oz made ones (Mudguts ADV Rider)and have the original ones as spares - You could burrow these if you need bolts in a hurry (i would need them back by mid July for trip to Oz)

Was my lower bolts that were the problem, so that was at least easily fixed.

I had a look at the uppers and they seemed fine. No spares for me, which is a risk, but one of the many one takes with such a fun bike

Took off the accessories this morning..no missing tank bolts or anything else I'm please to report!

I made a number plate light as well...have a WOF comming up soon and I had removed the stock light along with the indicator and number plate bracket a while back. Also made a cover plate to protect the light wiring.

Busy day in the garage....Fitted final tail tidy (painted black) also removed the rear topbox brackets for painting...one of the allen head countersunk bolts that go into the plastic tank was well rusted and took soom removing! Thought I had striped the insert out of the tank removing it, but all was good.

Also did the 2nd / 3rd gear mod...took no time atall...but will have to wait a few more weeks to test any improvement.

Am also redesigning bottom panier brackets (mk2 model)...much stronger do should'nt bend as easy in the unfortuneate event of an emergency/lie down

The horn has stopped working so have to get a new one for WOF. If I can make one criticisim of the 690...the location of the horn right infront of the engine is not coducive to a long health life! especially on an enduro bike!! Will have to track down another one an do some reolcation work up under the front fairing where there isa bit more protection.

Have the safari tank off to my mates place whos a sign writter...he has designed some cool graphics for it and recons he can get them to stick using micro holes in the film which will allow the tank to express vapour without blistering the decals...hope it works?

With a bit of luck I'm hoping to be back riding in 2-3 weeks cant wait!!

Turn the horn bracket upside down and refit horn. It then fits neatly in behind the radiator where it should have been in the first place.
    cheers

I am on my 3rd horn, they do seem to eat a fair bit of shite where they are located.
I moved mine a little, by turning the bracket around a bit so it was behind the rad instead of below it. But then you can hardly hear it, but guess it works for a warrant (if you want a pic of how I did it let me know).

Noticed today that my clutch was feeling super yuck (after 2 weeks off the bike) checked the top res and it was almost empty, looks like I may need a top-up and a bleed, job for tomorrow maybe.

try tapping it with something and you might find it will start working again.

its bin on the drawing board for a while As I understand it. KTM's competiton for the F800 GS and now the Triumph XC 800. From all the snipets Ive read...and there are a few ... it will be the most dirt oriented of the three and is expected to be a Vtwin :. The word is the prototype will make an apearance towards the end of 2012 with production in 2013. Some folk recon we may see something earlier but who knows....heres what they sayin FYI

Quick Google found this on another Bike Site.

    Quoted from Visordown News

KTM IS REPORTED to be working on a host of new models for launch in 2012 and 2013, with a range of new engines to power several new Super Duke and Adventure models.

According to Dutch website Nieuwsmotor, which has just visited the firm's Austrian base and interviewed key staff, the new V-twin engines will include 1200cc, 1000cc and small 700cc or 800cc versions.

The firm's current 990 Adventure was expected to be replaced in 2009 or 2010, a fact revealed several years ago when documents about the firm's long-term model plan were leaked. However, the new model has still not been shown. According to the latest information, that's because although it was fully developed, KTM boss Stefan Pierer rejected the bike, sending the firm's designers back to the drawing board.

The new engines will allow the firm to offer 1200cc Adventure and Super Duke models – with capacities to match their main rivals, BMW's R1200GS, Ducati's Multistrada 1200 and Triumph's Speed Triple – along with smaller, cheaper versions. In particular, the smallest of the firm's planned V-twins, at around 800cc. will allow it to make models to rival Triumph's new Tiger 800 and BMW's F800GS.

Beyond the firm's revamped V-twin range, the single-cylinder Duke is also said to be in the firing line for changes when the 2012 model range is unveiled, with more rounded bodywork designed to give it a wider appeal than the current sharp-edged style.

Do you know if these will be the last shipment of 2011's or the first of the 2012's?

I would assume that very little if anything would have change for the 2012 690's since KTM is (from posts I have seen as well) looking at introducing something to go head on with the BMW's etc.
