Other than waiting for a R6 shock to arrive I've finished my new FXR.....Quite easy really brought a TZR that was set up for a FXR converson already done, it was raced a couple of seasons ago and went into hiding untill i brought it off Bren who brought it back. Some bits and pieces had to be tidied and pulled the fxr fairing and tail off my FXR. I just finished the pipe and other than a couple of wee jobs its all done and ready for King Of Levels.
Its harder to lose weight than gain horsepower.

Its a good looking job. Does the R6 shock fit the TZR? would a R1 shock also fit? I have a reasonable R1 shock, if anyone wants one for their project, PM me.Originally Posted by Buddha#81

The Best lap time I have done at Ruapuna is a 2.01 on a FXR frame with upgraded suspension and wheels, I knocked out a 1.59 on a TZR/FXR without riding it before....No brainer really!

6 or so years ago l raced one no one got close to me and l could not fault it so why change it apart from make it go faster! it had been over 5 years sints l had riden a bucket!

The 250s from that era are the best road frames to use. If you go any bigger they get way heavy. And the smaller capacity bikes are usually steel framed or built as commuters. The 250s have reasonably good geometry and suspension too.no it has not apart from you lot are like puting a rs125 engine
So in terms of price vs weight vs handling vs availability, the 1980s - 1990s aluminum 250 chassis are the best.

Well there we have it from the expert. Not trying to take the piss but NZ is a big place & different ideas in different locations.
Nothing wrong with a steel frame, just can't put my finger on a decent production one to use. The SDR200 looks promising until you lift one up. But you could build a light one that was strong & good handling.

That must have been the once because I don't remember it. That long ago there weren't any really decent bikes here, things have come along in leaps & bounds. Me Hamish & Jay were clearing up the whole field on our 50s. Prior to that my H100 in bendy frame + 18" wheels was able to win easy enough.
