Trying to get TT to let me borrow the R1 for a weekend, I reckon I could make a R1 powered drag wheel chair ..
nonononono, you know those cars with the headlights that point where the steering points? well go one better, mount the cunts to your helmet and point themwhere you LOOK!
firstly, if youre prepared to do the work yourself, the rurbo thing can be done, if youre a cheapass, you can modify the compressor wheel etc ont he turbo off say a 1200 starlet so that it will work on your bike with a thicker headgasket to lower the compression. few oil feeds and some pipework and youre away laughing. Turbo rat-fighter bike FTW!!
As for the NOS kits, yes those are also readily available, and if you are serious about it, I can give you some links. If I can get the coin together, I will buy a kit for myself.
Turbo is fairly easy, the CT9A from a Starlet is okay, IHI RHB51 would be ideal, I had a CT12A(w) sitting around a while ago too. Setting one up is easy enough.
I'd run a spacer under the barrels/block if i was going that way, easy to make and won't blow under compression like a hori thick non-Oring head gasket.
Cut down a small intercooler (also had one a while ago), plumb a BOV in, a dirty external wastegate too, just 'cos
oil feed from the oil pressure switch return to sump or anywhere higher than the oil level and lower than the turbo....Bit of carb trickery, sexy manifold, alloy airbox and it's sorted
Not that I've thought about it or anything.
I wouldn't actually run NOS, too expensive over time and only a temp power gain, a flexible turbo set-up or very small blower would do the job.
I did turbo a 125 when i was younger. It lasted about 10 minutes of riding. Totally worth it.
How much boost is he planning on? Wonder how the crank and rods will hold up to it. I am thinking, not very well. Should just go with a twin screw supercharger instead, more low end boost![]()
