I reckon there is no greater insult to someone who is full of themselves, than to send the message to them that they don't even rate acknowledgement.

that's the whole point. They have no more rights than you or I, they cannot detain, ask for ID, anything. All they can do is call the Police.

But in saying all that, after working at ground zero on Friday 9 September, I truely appreciate security guards and the crap they put up with. Also, 99.9% of people will repsect the 'uniform' and comply with reasonable requests.

Quite topical... today it was an Armourguard fella outside an ASB branch, dressed in overalls, boots etc.

I guess when the cops don't want you, and a company is promising shiny cars and cool uniforms, it's enough for you.

I remember attending a call out to a client (it was the weekend, GM was too drunk to drive), security was there. He almost touched a door handle until I told him not too, hated the thought of being in the building etc. Really, if it wasn't for the cops spending too much time on highways etc, having the security system dial straight into the cops would render the guards useless...

Some security guards have the power to issue tresspass. Not sure if that applies to our mates at Darrien Rush or not. I'd guess not because they'd have to spell it first.

But it would suck getting tresspassed from the airport or the supermarket!

I've been told to move on by security guards when I've been photographing stuff.
Most are quite reasonable when I explain what I'm doing.
If they give me 'tude I just politely decline until I finish. All they do is stand there and huff and puff or go for the phone.
It helps being clad in armour, a foot taller and 30kg heavier than most of them too.

I used to look after a shopping centre in a previous life here. The security guards there were brilliant, nice guys (not DR emplyees).

Anyway, they hauled in some little rich kid who had been caught tagging the toilets, little prick had gone wild with a spray can trying to be a big ass gangsta.....

So, we have him in comms and hes blabbing on about "you cant do this, I'm head boy at St Kents" and all this crap. Next thing he says "and my father is a top lawyer as well" to which the senior guard replied "well, I hope he gives you a good fucking rate cos the cops are on their way"

I just about pissed myself laughing. Little rich kid started crying
