I don't like the look of the way that the ECAN river flow website is "broken" but also posting flood warnings for the Waimak, Rakaia and Waiau rivers - don't think we will be crossing the Okuku tomorrow but hopefully will be an impressive sight

Well - we got through, discretion being the better part of valour we walked the bikes through the first bit of the Okuku, wasn't that deep (knee) but she was running pretty fast, one of us had a sit down in the river - I won't name names suffice to say I love my new boots cos I stayed dry bash plate was all good, great day apart from I got back home and they had blown out the sewerage pipes AGAIN still trying to clear liquifaction (so I am told) so had a bit of a clean up in the downstairs loo ................... a few shots

Good weather & good company today on the ride thanks guy's. Cannot believe how wet I got again going through there again, but if anyone was wondering the river was up to my waist deep, didn't help me falling into it

Yeah great ride guys. Great photos too, especially.. cough...erm the first one..

Oh and I believe that that river dunking doesn't effect your "stats" as you weren't on a bike at the time. The correct term for the event was a "thorough river depth analysis". It was thanks to this analysis that we were able to cross the river and avoid the quiet shame of turning back.

Who's up for a spin to Mailings and Edwards on the 10th Dec? I'm thinking of an earlyish start (8am leave Peg) and back again the same day at whatever time.

Seems not all of us have been for a looksee yet!

    Cheers R

I have put it on my calendar.
I was going to say something rude about the time but it's a necessary evil for a one day run I think.

Will you include Rampaddock Rd behind Amberley on the way out ? Just trying to guess what time we'll be passing the Hanmer garage.

Time, rude. I acutally though that was not that early given i get woken up at 6 most mornings by the youngin

Yep can't be running up SH1 and SH7 the whole way so usual Ram Paddock route is what I was thinking. Problably going to have to be quickish pace (or more correctly minimal stops till Hanmer). Should take about 2 hours I'm thinking. When does garrage open?

    Cheers R

    thepoms travel times are here.
I reckon Hamner in 2 hours is about right. The garage zenbu listing shows Mon-Sun 7:30am - 6:00pm but was last updated in 2009. Surely it's open by 10am on Saturday.

Guys, I would love to go, a chance to test the new ride. But I'm having eye surgery on the Friday.
Not worth the risk really. TA, I came by your place last Saturday early evening. You weren't in.

ha ha that is correct, I had put the MTB in back of Van and driven to Halswell where a mate and I went cycling.
We were on our way back to his place and waiting outside the corner fish n chip shop for our order sometime after 7pm I guess when i thought I saw you pass coming off Sparks Rd turning toward Taitapu/Akaroa.

Anyone doing anything tomorrow (Sunday 27th).
Just got new chain/sprockets and a few other things done now want to go for a spin. Don't have to be anything flash, just want to get out.
I'll check back here during breakfast and between now and then.
