I dunno about that, I bought a damaged R1 with frontal damage, rim was toast, headstock torn out but the forks were straight

That was once my bike (2007-2009, 15 thousand k's ago). Looks like the ohlins has been taken off, Hope it isnt the stock rotary pos that I removed back in there, that was well gone when I replaced it.
I gave it a small mark on the right but it has definitely been down again since then.

    Pics when I had it:

You really are a fool aren't you?

I reported it to the MTA but they were pretty un-interested, buyer beware etc. so apart from walking around wearing a sandwich board warning of a bike with a potentially dangerous damaged frame being sold to some un-suspecting, there's not much else i can do. I mistakenly thought NZs biggest biking community would be interested..

I know i'd appreciate the heads up if i was looking at buying something over the internet.

I'm surprised kiwibikers are so ready to attack someone that supplies this info, rather than questioning a dealer that hasn't disclosed the bike has a potential fatal flaw, despite being told about it..

No skin off my nose, I'll leave you to your trolling.

Still no reason to believe you are anything more than a rejected ex just looking to cause damage to your ex's future. Nasty stuff

if any1 isnt black listed ask why the wheels so close & for a pic of the steering head welds, if he doesnt get trademe to remove it will be interesting to see what he has to say
Sooo, I'm the idiot who bought the bike.
Is there anything I can do (or that someone could suggest) to do now?
How about frame repairs? - but I'm guessing that's impossible or far too costly.

    Cheers

If the frame is indeed bent...get hold of Boyle Kawasaki ph 3846-824, they straighten frames, and it's not nearly as expensive as you'd think.

Tell them Pete from Wellington Motorcycles sent you.

You might be right about the bike being dodgy, but given that you didn't say anything about being an engineer in your opening post, or provided any proof that you inspected the bike, (anyone that did, would have whipped out a phone and taken a picture), it looks like sour grapes.

Some idea of social behavior goes a lot further than a dozen degrees will, when it comes to winning popular opinion on any forum. For instance, I have given no solid reason or evidence that you are holding a grudge, nor has anyone else. Yet this is more believable to the masses, than what you are saying.

I wonder if he isn't a competitor who is peeved because they are bidding on the same accident damaged bikes, but the other dude is winning more because he's paying more.

Another more acceptable reason, than the one given by the thread starter because of his/her manner.

Your looking at about 3-$400 to get it straightened (what i usually get charged in auckland), if your lucky it wont need stripping down (some straightners will want bare frame though hope you can strip it down yourself or theres a lot more labour charge for that)
99% sure you will also need another headlight to get through the vin as the seller has put that chinese crap on it (will not be dot marked) as it didnt have a light at the insurance company when i viewed it. If you havent paid for it dont!

But how can I get out of it?
Since I've won the auction what else can I do, aren't I legally required to make the sale? :\

Okay, if you were to estimate how much it would cost to get on the road...
Repairs + repairs + 700 (on road costs)?

    Cheers again

no, you are. if you are as highly qualified as you claim to be, why not put your name and reputation up against the sellers? - or perhaps you arent sure enough to do that?

a cheap e marked headlight in a similar style to whats on it will not cost too much - look through ebay and trademe, youll probably find something.

as for not going through with the sale - you are legally obligated to follow through with the purchase, unless you can PROVE that the seller withheld information about it.

Eat it up like a man. In for a penny in for a pound. You have 137000 pennies invested now. Even if it ain't a great buy, you might be able to part it out and recover most of your money (assuming the frame is bent and it is too costly to repair that and other items).
