Bobber build

I found some closed cell foam with an adhesive back in my shed last week: (I used it unfortunately or I would have shared it. I think i got it from Para? theres one in Riccarton now I think.

Mitre 10 has some. Fake rubber (pvc) with adhesive. And I happen to have a crap load of automotive double sided tape (since the posters on the bricks are held on with it!)

One bike down (except for tidying).

Now another bike to knock out since parts have started arriving - an overhaul of a 19 year old bike. Replacement factory parts yet to arrive.

Went for a longer ride today, and by longer I mean riding in traffic to the local tat shop and cafe.

The PVC rubber strip works well at dampening the bumps to the fender.

Anyone know much about carbs? I found the bike rattles and shakes itself silly, and the two pilot screws wiggled out. One is gone, but the other was still sitting on the engine casing.

Could use some help setting the carb up to get the most out of the engine.

Willy, if you want to go for a ride I can still use a blocker one evening when there is little traffic, so I can see if it'll get up to 100k without killing me.

Went to get some beers to consume while doing revisions this evening, and a tab broke on the suicide shifter.

Will have to strip it off, and beef up that whole area so it's less tempted to break again.

Just glad I'm sensible enough to work my way into a bike after it's modified - can't carry a MIG and some bar stock wherever I go!

Yup, anything that flails about and flexes when it's not meant to will eventually fatugue and break - and a bobber is a prime candidate for the sort of thing.


But keep us posted, looking good so far.

Dual Keihin carbs. If you need something more specific, I'll have to take a closer look.

VE 26F A IF and maybe a 4 at the end.

Doesnt mean much to me. I might be able to find out more by google?

Went to work on it today. Seemed to go alright but pretty stuttery unless really warmed up. Right side indicators stopped flashing, so I suspect loose connection off the load resistor.

Has a very crisp shift and little slop, which it wasn't like before the small tab snapped off
