If you're not living on the edge you're taking up to much room!
Life begins where your comfort zone ends!
I think a step up to a fast 600 would have been a lot more sensible than going straight to a Hayabusa. I went from a CBR250 to a GSXR600 and the 600 is a lot easier to handle than the 250.
guess it depends on the tyre type, bike type, rider weight etc etc... I'm 'only' 105kg and on bikes around 260kg wet.. I prefer 38 front 40 rear.. which is basically the two up or over 90kg rider weight pressures.... When I had Diablo's I was told to run them about 3lbs higher than bike manufacturer recommendations... reading the dummy's guides to suspension set up, it does seem that manufacturers of vehicles do set pressures lower than the tyre makers would use,,, means the tyre is doing some of the suspensions work (cheaper manufacturing costs)
The Wainui hill crucifies any tyres and is well known for it.. the reverse cambers on bends and the 'anti slip surface' destroy tyres rapidly... we discussed about carcass distortion etc and I have found no detrimental handling or wear effects by running higher pressures.
If the road to hell is paved with good intentions; and a man is judged by his deeds and his actions, why say it's the thought that counts? -GrayWolf
Correct. It fucks tyres in no time. We in the industry love that hill!
But I like my tyres a bit softer than most, as I hate the harsher ride from higher pressures. You can feel every bloody pebble etc when they're too high. Tyres also tend to heat up a tad quicker when run a lil softer.
unfortunately, how many times in various threads has this advice been dispensed,, going from 250 to 1000cc... and the general replies are to the effect of, go for it, easy as, dont listen to the old bastards, I can handle it... etc etc...
its ONLY when they bin it or high/low side in a short time that they realise the advice from the nay sayers, was sound.

So you have never dropped your bike eh? it was a very slow drop most of the scratches will buff out. I got the wobbles under severe heavy braking because someone pulled out on me, was a new bike and hadn't had much chance to practice emergency braking on it. How many idiots jump on 600s and ride at break neck speeds? fastest i have had the busa is 140 (excessive i thought yes) but was passing someone out near ashburton (straight as arrow roads)
im 6ft 4 and 135kgs i couldn't find a 650 that felt comfy or 1 thou for that matter that i liked. I liked my gt250r was good but couldn't go on any long rides with it as it was uncomfortable and i hated the cb250rs found my self barely riding, it spend most of its tiem in the garage. I sat on the busa never honestly thinking i would buy one and fell in love with the look, riding position, comfort of the bike hence why i got one. I sat on most 600-650s and they look and feel like im sitting on a little 125. Sure i could have bought one ridden it to get used to the power ended up hateing riding cause i could never get comfy and gonr back to a cage but then what would be the point. I've done 1000kms on the bike now slowly getting a feel for it. Went for another ticky tour out to akaroa today which was great. Thought i was going at a really good pace then two guys on a r1 and gsxrthou boosted past me as if i was going at a snails pace and it didn't look like they were pushing it either lol.
Your opinion is your own your are welcome to it. But refrain from calling me an idiot becuase i didn't do as you saw appropriate. As you are welcome to your opinion/idea's as am i.

I wont argue your right to opinion, any more than I have mine,,, however without trying to attack your choices, what I would suggest is maybe stepping back and reading what you wrote with 'outside eyes'....
1) massive difference in weight without any other factor
2) I would hazard a guess that at 140 if you grabbed a handful of brake the Busa would nigh on lock the wheel.
3) said weight, riding position, brakes etc will feel completely different and REACT differently to what you are used to.
At 140kph on a straight road yes I am throwing a tangible into the mix, all you needed was an unseen sheep etc to run across, suddenly all those complete differences are not working in your favour. Sometimes others have 'been there, done that... and are seeing 'mistakes' they have made themselves...
I have mentioned before that the 1000cc blasters of my youth are outrun by 600cc these days.. I have also mentioned without detail watching a mate get killed as a teenager....well heres the details:
He went from a 250 kwacka to a 1000cc GS Suzuki.....had it a month or so... on a dual carriageway (england) 60mph/100kph limit we were on the side of the road parked ready to re-join the traffic, he decided to dive into a gap, and completely misjudged distance, speed, acceleration.. he was rear ended by the car in the rear of the gap, time elapsed, was likely less than 2 seconds. Though it seemed slow motion.
That is what we try to point out... it only takes 'minute misjudgements' like that to kill you on high power machinery ------ 2 seconds to die!

For fucksakes, whats everybody getting upset about, its only a suzuki![]()
if you grabbed it all the way it might lock but when i panic broke it didn't lock, Could be my pads but the busa's breaks dont seem all that great you can grab a fair bit without even coming close to lockin it up. It did sorta tank slap but the rear didn'rt wobble just the front was weird. I do understand what your saying the busa is crazy fast and it can get there crazy quick, But I feel it comes down to the person tbh, I my self haven't i dont think taken the bike past 5k rpm and its rather civil. I'm not stupid im well aware of what bike im riding and its power, but im taking it slowly and taking my time. Unfortunatly i dropped it which sucked balls but what can you do. I intend to be riding for a very long time, I've never been one to push the limits (on a bike) and i dont ride recklessly for the most part i dont even filter. I have a young family and intend to see them grow up. I got the busa purely for the physical size of the bike not the power. Yes 140km is dangerous if something came out of nowhere i agree it was too fast really but the bike does it rediculusly easy and that was prolly the first day i got it. Getting used to keeping it civil which is really rather easy. The hayabusa is a brilliant bike and can do everything, I love it and have no intention of putting any more scratches on it.
It only takes 2 seconds to die on any motorbike or a car for that matter really. Doing something similar on a 250 could result in the same thing happening.
At the end of the day its all about the top 2 inches. I will try to use mine to the best of my ability and ride safely for the rest of my life. Im never in a hurry to go anywhere on my bike i like to enjoy the ride.0

I have no intentions of giving the government any more reason to raise the reg price i assure you.
