That's not true. Walking, you don't have a 50-100kph breeze blowing the rain into the cracks of your apparel.

Although, in Wellington, I suppose I shouldn't take that as a given.

Hope you rode and got wet, it's all part of getting used to riding instead of being a walking dead or a cager.

I used to ride to uni when it rained because I didn't want to get so wet walking.

That only works if you have proper gear.

Probably a sensible decision given d3adlytuna's fresh and raw experience. Admittedly his occurred at an advanced rider day on the track but shit does happen there too. Best you take things easy on yourself in the early days - great to hear you enjoyed the group ride (try sticking with groups members who you know are not dicks-on-two-wheels and who will be cognizant of your relative inexperience) - and stick to slowly developing your skills. Small steps.
No matter what your riding level all riders face situations which will test their thinking and machine handling skills to the max; don't be in a rush to push the envelope too soon.
    Happy riding!

Hahaha I'm here! I rode, and it didn't rain. Curses. Though I'm off tomorrow morning to get stuff done on the bike, so if it rains, I'll get wet.

Launch parties for new cars involve champagne. Lots of it. I made it to work this morning, but god it hurt. Turns out I may have smacked my leg on the apartment door thus I now have a massive bruise right where my boot sits. Oh well, guess I won't do that again!

So, good day until about 2pm when some arrogant prick decides hes going to keep going when I hesitated at a roundabout and runs right up the back of me. No damage to me, but hes gonna have some damage on his bonnet from the rack on my bike.

I got a little too close to hitting him as well, when the person I was riding with came back to see what was going on, I took a step back and decided to call the police instead. Told the guy this and he got in his car and took off. The police report is done, and I'm counting my blessings that it ended that way, instead of damage to me or my bike.

Handled that well GM, on ya. Make absolutely sure that there is NO DAMAGE to your bike. Even the slightest bit, get your insurance co to chase the mongrel for it K.
An don't let one monkey spoil yer riding experience, the one driving the car that is, just to be sure no one here thought I was talking about them.

The only thing I could see was that the reflector had been knocked sideways, which my friend sorted for me. It wasn't a hard hit, I think the tail piece for my plate took the whole impact.

Sure, but do have it checked out well as they are a pretty "soft" bike and if the bearing has been damaged, you definitely need it sorted.
Had a similar incident when I was riding my Z1000...different for me obviously, he regretted it instantly and fortunately no damage to my scoot.
