I mean't to write "uninjured". One could argue that Lorenzo won because of Rossi's injury woes. In Lorenzo's shoes now, I would want to beat a healthy Rossi.

Anyone that would say that is full of shit. Bit like saying if Lorenzo wins the title this year that it's only because Stoner crashed in Germany. Too bad. Only person that made either of them crash is themselves.

His fault, yes. But you can still argue it would have been a much closer championship race had he not crashed. Robbed us of some good close racing I think. I think what tbs is saying, is if you want to be the GOAT, you need to beat the previous GOAT at their best.

I know exactly what he was saying. But if he remembers correctly, Lorenzo was already handing Rossi's arse to him on a plate before Rossi biffed it. And by the way...Rossi ain't the GOAT.

This is where it gets arguable init, 9 points over three races isn't unrecoverable. Not sure if there is a GOAT myself, but Lorenzo seems like the type who would very much like to be...

Seems more like Rossis ego that's keeping him there trying to beat Ago's record to me. Lorenzo is still young and enjoying doing what he does. I simply hope like fuck Rossi does get a good ride next year. Else it's gonna be boring as fuck watching Lorenzo kick arse week in week out. Rossi is the only guy able to take it to him on a regular bassis I reckon.

Same here, like them or not, Rossi, Lorenzo, and Stoner make for good watching.

Exactly. All the haters saying good job Stoner's going are forgetting the big picture.

Guilty as charged your honour. Lots of us get caught up in our own favourites, which is where the entertainment comes from, but every hero needs a nemisis (insert 'Snatch' monologue here), otherwise they are just some dude that's good.

Most memorable race for me would be the Rossi-Stoner battle at Laguna Seca, followed by a couple of Rossi-Lorenzo battles at the end of 09. Stuff since then seems more like just one dude going fucking quick, which is impressive, but not edge of the seat watching.

But a lot of Rossi fans still talk like he is.
To break Rossi's legacy it isn't enough for Lorenzo to have beaten him once, especially in a season where Rossi had to come back from injury... self inflicted or not. I reckon Lorenzo wants the chance to completely dominate Rossi, so that at the end of the season all he can say is that he was beaten by the better man.
Lorenzo started the job in 2010. Surely he wouldn't want Ducati to finish it for him?

With as much success Rossi has had in the GP racing (9x WC) I would think that he is looking more at maintaining his legacy rather then winning races just to win races. He knows that Lorenzo is his closest match (probably doesn't think that Lorenzo is any better then himself, cause these guys have that much self confidence) and will know that it will be a out and out brawl to see which one o them could win a championship while both healthy and on the same bike. Rossi's legacy would be better served by sticking with the ugly Duckling and trying to build a competative MotoGP race bike out of it. If he could come out next year (lets face it, ain't gonna happen this year) and really challange Honda/Yamaha for the Championship, that would do more for his reputation than admitting defeat and running back to Yamaha. Even now that Ben is leaving (rather disappointing, hope he keeps racing somewhere) and an open Yamaha factory seat, I would surmise that Rossi is going to stay with Ducati for at least one more year, hoping that with Audi leaning on the Ducati leadership, that changes will happen and things will get better.

Now of course since I've said this Rossi will probably jump ship and make me look like a..............well, an L-plate rider I guess.
