Cheers David, You're in the North Island eh? so take note north islanders swinger availget racing, If you were in the south island/canterbury region we would have use for you in up coming races next month. Think my swinger is going off on holiday for one or two of the meetings.
How come you want a 600cc F2? yea we don't have any racing with us down here at the moment, might as well grab a 1000cc short bikeplenty of those around and a lot of fun.

Thanks mate, very useful!
Yes, in Auckland but quite happy to look at any racing between here and Mansfield.
Maybe give Squiggles (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/me...2980-Squiggles) a message, he has also swung for Classic #128 in the past and only stopped because he moved down to Ashburton. I need to ensure he stays keen on the sport, as he's the most likely to chip in with me for the sidecar and the only one of my friends willing to swing with me/at all, haha!
Figured the 600cc would be a cheaper and safer way to get into the sport and get my head around the change from two- to three-wheelers - or is it worth cracking straight onto a thou? While I've thoroughly enjoyed the swinging I've done, I am keen to give it a crack from behind the handlebars.![]()
will give him a pm, get him to come and post on this thread
I recon you could do what I did and just grab some of the cheaper kiwi made short bikes here, the one I got now was cheap as chips and ready to race. it has an old 1000cc in it so it probably makes about as much or less power than a 600cc f2 that ur likely to import from overseas. I've seen bikes from 3.5k kiwi to 5k ish. Mine at the upper end of the scale, has great neutral handling, very forgiving and is great to ride and learn on.
might be hard to find all the ones available, scattered around the country and rarely on trademe..
this ones avail if u have a bit of cash

its nice.. rather it stayed in the south island though, we need the grid numbers!
you could always as well, buy a short bike and then sell the 1 litre unit and fit a 600cc power plant of your choice![]()
For anyone wanting a good F2 engine.
I have two of these left.

I do actually have the carbs & black boxes (for sidecar people only) & they are fitted with proven sidecar sumps, as opposed to non proven ones, which frequently result in un planned seizures.
They were in Ian Bell's 2001 TT, DMR 600 outfit.
Had planned to repower the pink bike, but it was too much effort for little return.
As it turned out, At Eastern Creek This year Tracey was 5 seconds a lap quicker with her '96 DMR 600, Thundercat powered outfit, than the other girl team, on a 2009 GSXR600 LCR.
haha.. I've seen the front of it a bit cause the current owner only brought it out a couple times then lost interest! didn't even get up to speed on the bike before throwing in the towel. oh well! sm ppl arent into it I guess (dunno why lol, must be wired wrong)
.. if the price drops another thousand or two haha (which might just happen, its been on trademe for a while now and price has dropped a wee bit) id be getting damn tempted to put it on the bank loan and pay it off.
I'm in the worst position to do it, but when i get a bit better and upgrade to a more modern bike I plan to keep my mo haley and with the idea of renting it out to people that want to have a go at racing.. etc.. something like that anyway to try get more ppl into the sport.
talking in like 2 years though.. wee way away.
why is sidecar racing soboring
