They seemed like a jolly bunch, riding around drinking lashings of Coca-Cola etc but I noticed a few of them slouching.

I wonder why they dont do it now? They should probably be leading the drive on gay marriage to keep things current

Guess it's a lot harder to freak out squares now that it was in 1960s USA.

There's a really good book by Hunter S. Thompson called Hells Angels. He went and spent a lot of time hanging out with the original Californian group in around the same time that LIFE photo essay was done.
Really interesting look into how the first Angels lived, I don't know much about MC gangs but seems like the modern Angels are a completely different thing altogether.

Some pictures Hunter S. Thompson took while writing his book on HAs

Not a big H-D enthusiast but some of the 60s and 70s style Angels bikes were fucking cool.

So what's all the fascination of glorifying gang members? A bunch of criminals & nothing more. Why give them some sort of status?
Don't you look at my accountant.
He's the only one I've got.

I see them as just one of many fascinating byproducts of a fascinating time (1960s USA).
Doesn't mean I condone the shit they got up to, because a lot of it was not very nice.

And some of them did have really cool bikes.

So every motorcycle gang member has a criminal conviction? Please share where you found that pearl of knowledge.

'Outlaws' have always held the public's fascination. Wrong side of the tracks sort of thing. Heck even I got caught up in some shit a few years back with a well known gang here because to me it was interesting. Took me a while to realise for them it wasn't just 'interesting', it was their way of life.

You're right. they set these clubs up to perform civic charity. Why I bet as indoctrination they have to help little old ladies cross the road and collect merit badges. Oh hold on, that's the Boy Scouts.

Well I guess their could be some that are either yet to be caught or too pussy to do anything naughty, but seems unlikely.

Why would the harm have to be personal to him to be relevant? How can selling meth only to people I don't even know reduce the criminality of the action?

I've never been killed by a drunk driver, so they must all be good cunts by your logic.
