Robby Gordon is gonna be there with his eco friendly Hummer too. i was researching about his DQ last year for his tyre deflating sytem that introduced air into the engine behind the imposed air restrictor. It was refered to as a redneck supercharger. After a bit of research I'm not sure if he is cheating or not. Still bit of a Lance Armstrong as far as is innocence is concerned.
Anyway what I can't work out is how the tyre while spinning can be inflated & deflated. Anyone have ideas or links?
In life as in dance Grace glides on blistered feet
Is Chris riding this time?
Any other Kiwis involved?
Looks like the Aussies are going to have quite a few riders
Ken
The same as for log trucks.
No-one is going to risk dodgy air from the inside of a tyre in their engine...
The way he had it set up, the vacuum would help deflate the tyre more quickly and they wouldn't have to stop to do it.
Technically, air was being introduced into the system, but that air was put into the tyres by that same system. Closed loop.
More like a redneck KERS system
No kiwis this year, next year i'll be heading over to service for Jaybo who's based in Perth, which should be good to watch.
Of the aussies to watch this year it'd have to be Matt Fish on the Husky team, there's others with more outright speed (Grabbo/Smith) but he's with a well sorted team and has the most experience on international rallys. Also he's a bloody nice guyu to boot![]()

Coma is out
Hasn't recovered from his injury from the last race.

Two of the HRC riders, Brazilian Philipe Zanol and UK's Sam Sunderland are also out after training crashes in USA.
Yes, Coma will be replaced at KTM by American Kurt Caselli, he's a regular KTM team rider at ISDE 6-days races, and was placed 2nd in 2012 Baja 1000, so KTM obviously think he's worthy of the ride. He will gain a lot of rally experience from the Dakar but KTM aren't "putting any pressure" on him for a top placing.
Used a lot in logging over here to swap between laden/unladen pressures http://auto.howstuffworks.com/self-inflating-tire2.htm

Once the Dakar starts, it'll be slightly hectic
Hopefully, there'll be another "Cliff Notes" thread like last year, that only moderators can add to, that only contains the info without the chat.
