Geez, you're a bit slow, eh? If someone ends up in A&E as a result of their inability to control their motorcycle whilst splitting it's a pretty hard way for them to find out they've ridden beyond their capabilities. Pointng the finger of blame does nothing to reduce the potential harm inflicted when a biker comes off whilst splitting, either to themselves physically or to the perception that other motorists may hold towards motorcyclists in general.
The same could be said for yourself, Madness. I've read and taken everything in, and not always necessarily agreed on some things esp. tact or lack thereof, which is ok, because were all allowed to have differing opinions. I've hardly been at home yesterday and today (HD) so certainly I do have better things to do. Ironically one of them is now vacuuming before the flatty gets back from HD... have fun....
Becoming fearless isn't the point. That's impossible. It's learning how to control your fear, and how to be free from it.
Going by your original post, I'm assuming you started this thread in the hope that people would tell you "don't worry about it, shit happens" and offer a means to lessen your sense of guilt.
If it's taught you a lesson of being more respectful of other road users that's the best you can hope for out of the thread.
Just don't listen to the cocks that claim the act of hitting mirrors as a right.
Same here, take your own advice.
Then you assumed wrong, sorryno one in their right mind would want a pat on the back for clipping someone's car whether unintentionally or otherwise... and no it didn't teach me respect for other road users, this implies I had little or none to start with.
This thread seems to be going in circles. If y'all wanna assume that I wanted some kind of pity party or to feel that what I did was OK than no problem, that's fine with meEnjoy your evening...

Sigh. I think the OP was asking, as a fairly new rider, what people do when they have a clipping session. Most people are probably agreed that if you can't do it without causing damage you shouldn't be doing it, yet everyone has to start somewhere (their virgin splitting or filtering ride) and occasions of misjudged distances happen.
As for responses, they will range from the sublime to the ridiculous and I'm sure she's a sensible enough woman to sort the worthwhile replies from the mounds of shit that have, not too surprisingly, appeared.
In regards to cleaning, the only cleaning I've had to do for the last couple of days has been this thread. And i'm not wearing a skirt either while I do it.
This one's for Maha.
