A wealthy quadriplegic (Philippe) hires a new caregiver (Driss) from the "other" side of town. Originally wanting just a signature for his benefit, he ends up becoming a friend to Philippe and showing him a different side to life.

    All in subtitles.

    Bloody excellent movie. 9:10.

    Better second time around.

Skyfall. I enjoyed this at the movies but didn't feel it deserved the 'best Bond ever' accolades.

However, I must say after watching it a second time at home tonight I was impressed and I am a convert. It is the best Bond to date. The use of the original Goldfinger Aston Martin was spot on.

Oblivion: Hard to describe it really. The ship is just fuckin cool. The bike was really fuckin cool. The backdrop was stunning. The story was, erm, well that's where I come unstuck. I felt like I had seen it before in ways, but obviously haven't, but still very much enjoyed it. Relatively predictable, but I didn't mind at all. 8/10

Ending was terrible. Other than that good film. 7/10.

    OBLIVION.

I have watched a lot of science fiction films. My favourite eras are the 1950's and the 1970's. I think this was trying to be some sort of SILENT RUNNING (the eco vibe and thinly veiled eco references) and SOYLENT GREEN type of deal (wait, whut? Soylent green is PEOPLE?). It doesn't quite work. Its a bit long, and I figured out pretty quickly who was shagging who and who was paying.

It had a couple of unnecessary scenes at the end that felt tacked on to give the happy ever after ending. The story would have been stronger without those.

Cruise gives his usual workmanlike performance, Olga Kurylenko provides eye candy, and the redhead chick is a bit needy. Thought I saw a flash of nipple but wishful thinking.

It LOOKS fabulous. They spent a LOT of money, and its all up there on screen. the VFX were brilliant and so were the sets (one in particular of a large library was fabulous). the wee dragonfly plane was cool too.

I dont regret the two and a bit hours, and dont want my money back. But it could have been better. 6.5/10.

Watch MOON to see how it should be done: plus it traverses sort-of similar ground. Also Sam Rockwell is a way better actor than TC.

Yeah, but not just sexual abuse cases. The CPU (Child protection UNit) in Paris. Been a fucking long time since I've seen a film that made me laugh out loud at wrong things, and have a wee cry too. Incredibly powerful film making IMO.

The Croods. Well he girls enjoyed it, but it was much of a much and I'd seen it before in one way or another. A chuckle worthy moment when his belt comes to life but other than that just another animated movie for the kids. 6/10.

That whole series was brilliant if you ask me. Death Proof, Grindhouse, Planet Terror.

Does exactly what you think it will do. Pays homage to lots of earlier DIE HARD films. Fantastic car chase sequence through Moscow. Or virtual Moscow. Gaping plot holes and ignoring of science. A LOT of shit gets blown up.

I liked it a lot. SWMBO hated it. Boys night 9/10. Date night 2/10.
I have to admit - I hated it.
And I am huge fan of the first one.
All it needed was a dude with a scottish accent (trying to be american), a submarine to make it into one of those BS cold war novels/movies. I had to keep asking myself if I was watching Die Hard.
There was almost no "improv demo" at all.
