sorry bout that, but it wouldent a been the car kill her but the object that she hit or hit her, if it was a failer of the cars then Id put it down to failer to maintain, all the above could and does happen with all cars

Nah, twas the drunken arsehole who was driving that killed her. Not the cars fault at all, just my association with them is a little screwed, but I did have some fun in one before that. Same guy got caught drunk driving a few weeks later too.

That was the FG. You could latch the door open and drive like that, great for a delivery vehicle. A longer snout and they put a 6 cyl into them. Like some other old British trucks I've driven, the gearlever went where your left leg should be, so clutchless shifts were easier than bending your leg. Mr Whippy used the FG too. Oh, and the engine had sporting aspirations too - it was used in the Austin Healey 100/4.

I don't need a P76, I can fit a 209 in the back of my NX Coupe....and a 180 litre hot water cyl last week too.

Just one I found on Google. We had a Beaver at RFL, real old, pre LAD cab, that had double clutch springs. It could still pull a load, but slow, no top speed on the old trucks. To get it into gear you stuck your left shoulder into the back of the seat, locked your leg and arched your back...to take off you just relaxed. So once it was moving you didn't go near the clutch again, it was impossible to use it. RFL used what we called doubles, these days an A Train - a semi pulling a full trailer. So one night the Beaver was in the workshop with a bent drawbar on the trailer - it wouldn't back straight, just went all out of shape. All we needed to do was get the cab out the door, but it was always on full lock by the time it was at the door. There were probably 8 or 10 of us on the evening shift, and everyone had to have a turn to get it out.... a couple of attempts and your left leg was jelly, time for someone else. I think it lost a mirror or 2 in the end.

I would of shifted the door. Old trucks sure do take some driving, but at least they have character.

hey, well off topic I know but whill the talk of 2 stroke diesels is floating about... I allways wondered why the nips never built a 2 stroke diesel for cars etc instead of the gutless 2L things ya get in corona's etc, twice the power strokes gota mean more power and perhaps the cost of a little extra fuel
Or even today the toyota landie thing with the V8 turbo diesel... whay not a 6 pot stroker?
    cheers DD

Would have to be an improvement on the old petrol two strokes in the suzuki jeeps. Maybe they do not meet emmision control standards and stuff.????

A v8 landy would be the shizz though, thats what I am aiming at anyhow, 92-94 model 80 series.

I'd say that was the reason

Same thing with big outboards nowadays, just about all 4-strokes.

a 2 stroke diesel shouldnt put any more emisions out than a 4 stroke diesel, they just fire every 2nd strok rather than 4th stroke by direct injection...
you want diesel emisions then check this out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XAIHPzuqSc4 origional engine with a little nitro and water

oh and the landie i was talking about is the new toyota, not a old rover
    cheers DD

Looks like he has a blocked air filter and injectors. What a beast.

92-94 is not old, and not a rover. Do you mean the 200 series landcruisers?
