I go back onto the road afterwards, and I use higher pressures. fuck the 'recommendations' sometimes just 1-2 PSI can make a substantial difference to handling and feel, and as a result wear. have a go with an extra couple psi.

worth noting is that (and more relevant on race bikes probably) with a lower pressure, the tyre heats up faster, and has the potential to reach a higher temperature which = increased wear. higher pressures will result in slightly lower temps, and less distortion which = lower rates of wear

Some good advice, thanks for that - Will up the PSI a bit.

If you want better grip you'll get less wear, there's always a trade off

Absolutely and I knew that when purchasing the lasertecs, however what I did not know is they would wear out so fast. It is by no means a high-end super grippy tyre, they are just better than the nylon stocks.

It's just anecdotal evidence. Like nearly all tyre info on the interwebs.

My understanding was the same from people on this site recommending them for Scorpios .

However after reading the Ninja site I posted, which rate them as a tyre that sacrifices life for stickiness, I got something better suited to my uses (mainly commuting with a ride every other weekend or so).

I can vouch for the handling and grip of Dunlop GT501's. Can't comment on wear yet, need to do more kms.

Lasertecs arent a long wearing tyre.
    But they are cheap.

    I would not sneeze at 6,000ks ... On my 650 I got:

Bridgestone Battleax (can't remember the number) 4,000ks, including 2,000 running in the new bike
Pilot Roads and Pirelli Diablos - 5,000ks
    Continental Road Attacks - 3,000ks ..

I ride on Road Attacks - awesome tyre.

Now, I ride reasonably fast and use the throttle a lot - going past 200 klicks most days ...

It's all comparative and if I got 6,000ks out or a rear tyre I would be very very happy ... just saying .. a Scorpio is not what I ride ...

Yes, that's the trade off I make ... and love my Road Attacks ...

Cheap and long lasting are mutually incompatable ...

I wouldn't worry too much ... enjoy the bike .... Metzlers wil ride better than most ..

Yup thats why Triumph bonnevilles come with a Z2 on the back rather than a lasertec to match the front.

Do you always adjust them at the same gas station typically? I've seen some airhoses at gas stations read as far as 6psi out. Are you using your own gauge?

no surprise seeing how they get treated, dropped or thrown across the car bonnet when someone is done with it, run over ten times a day and generally treated like shit. I always use my own gauges wherever possible
