It's just anecdotal evidence. Like nearly all tyre info on the interwebs.
My understanding was the same from people on this site recommending them for Scorpios .
However after reading the Ninja site I posted, which rate them as a tyre that sacrifices life for stickiness, I got something better suited to my uses (mainly commuting with a ride every other weekend or so).
I can vouch for the handling and grip of Dunlop GT501's. Can't comment on wear yet, need to do more kms.
I would not sneeze at 6,000ks ... On my 650 I got:
Bridgestone Battleax (can't remember the number) 4,000ks, including 2,000 running in the new bike
Pilot Roads and Pirelli Diablos - 5,000ks
Continental Road Attacks - 3,000ks ..
I ride on Road Attacks - awesome tyre.
Now, I ride reasonably fast and use the throttle a lot - going past 200 klicks most days ...
It's all comparative and if I got 6,000ks out or a rear tyre I would be very very happy ... just saying .. a Scorpio is not what I ride ...
Yes, that's the trade off I make ... and love my Road Attacks ...
Cheap and long lasting are mutually incompatable ...
I wouldn't worry too much ... enjoy the bike .... Metzlers wil ride better than most ..

Do you always adjust them at the same gas station typically? I've seen some airhoses at gas stations read as far as 6psi out. Are you using your own gauge?
