may be there is a prize there for some one

Once again I'm not riding this year but by coincidence will be intersecting parts of the route with ute & trailer. PM me here if you think you might need my cell #.
Bike mechanic Neil @ Two Wheels Alexandra will be available Sat evening for light maintenance work (tyre changes etc.) but please, only by appointment Ph: 0272 905 008.

The OpenGPs mapset without topo is probably more up to date.
I'll use the latest set and have a topo card and the DOC track card with me, just in case.

Just loaded up your routes and they went on OK. Someone mentioned having the tracks on in the background. Presumably their tracks are not aligned with your routes, so I'm guessing that would not be a good plan in combination with your routes.(?)

    Thanks for your help.

Been investigating the MAP60 and the answer is no.... the the track files are cut off at the first 500 points by the GPS while it is receiving them, all points after that are lost so you end up with a very small partial track ending in the middle of nowhere.
I'd imagine the 76cx being basically the same will do the same... other than that you'd have done it with my track files to avoid re introducing the errors I cleaned out such as in the picture attached...

The open maps has been corrected now so that would help this year, previously the road appeared on the map to go straight on and when actually there it appeared to do the same but we needed to turn left through a gate up a track.
Lots of people overshoot this one.
The grey line is the Epic track file, see the extra squigles, the big one is a good 100m up the wrong way.
The Red line mostly shares the same path as the grey except I turn you at the corect place instead of visiting the house then returning to the turn.
The pink line represents the 200pt Route file.

All files have areas of limited detail in some areas of the ride. If I knew how things were going to play out I'd have preped a much fuller track and route set filling in the gaps but then you still need to read the terrain for yourselves a lot of the time anyway, rivers crossed here last year may be washed to a different crossing this year.

    Cheers.

All this chatter about routes and tracks and points has confused me, so just gonna follow the epicevents trackroute.

Anyway its the third year using the exact same route so I reckon i know where to go now anyway. Mostly

I'm going for a bit of an easier time this year, taking the WR and the easy options.

We know the feeling Carl. Rogson has caught my (last minute maintenance) disease & tonight is doing front wheel & swing arm bearings in my garage, with advice from TimG. Plus tomorrow morning he has to get a front tyre fitted & a WOF, all before heading to the Pre Ride.

Good luck getting a wof before 0830 in the morning, suspect he will be playing catch up, I wouldn't bother, not like he is going to spend that much time on the seal!

Same shit here. Started the KLR the other day and the water pump seals have given out. No replacements, so have boogied it up and it don't leak anymore. Yesterday went for a wee shakedown ride and the carb was pissing petrol out the overflow. Pulled carb, cleaned it up and all good, musta been a bit of shit n the needle and seat. Hopefully the bikes back to its usual reliable self. Must have been all this talk about selling it.

Anyway all loaded up and ready for the ride to fairlie tomorrow. See you guys there.
