Much fun for a Saturday morning![]()
Am planning doing this in the morning if anyone is interested http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/sh...post1130702817
Ride was a corker details here http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/sh...post1130703631
Thats it I'm heading for the Beach, cant wait for others to organize a ride as it doesn't seem to happen![]()
If only I was living in Auckland again...
(So not gay for me to say that)
Sticking to the back roads
Its just my rides are so last minutes there little chance anyone could get ready in time
The two stroke has died (no spark) so pulled at the trusty DRBig as she's a cracker. did my usual run through to Muriwai, top up the 29 litre tank just in case I ended up the wildness and so I could use as much throttle as I wanted. Noted that the 725cc 4 stroke feels like its being towed by the hand of God when given throttle (lots of torque)
Stop at the Beach for a Bottle of Mocha and to watch the horses and 4wd's (most of them returned after a few minutes as tide was about 3/4 and its a bit tough going in the water logged sand,
Made the call and headed up the beach the 12ks to Rimmers Road, kept the DR in 3rd gear at about 5000 revs and was able to hold 60-70kph without straining the old girl to much (I'm sure the horse guys thought I was made heading up into the incoming tide but DR has done before) at times I'm not sure if the clutch was slipping or she was wheel spinning as revs and speed didn't always match but the show must go on and as the 2x 60k speeds signs came into site I was relieved and shot straight through the 4wd access and to my favourite stop over amongst the trees, could have fried my breakfast on the engine but the DR never complains.
Did a ride through the bike park car-park and enjoyed the what the heck looks from all the Dirt bikers doing a couple of the hill climbs on the assess ways just show that the Doctor is a proper dirt bike and high tailed it up the metal road heading for the main highway, those 606's have a lot of grip so am looking forward to a good run on some real loose stuff up the Waikato way soon.
Arrived home for lunch after buzzing as many cars as I could (safely of course) satisfied that MR Big is one fine piece of kit
Pictures to follow (loading now)
Did this Northern Gravel Tokoroa ride yesterday, it was a Big day, left Auckland at 5am and got back at 10pm after a total of about 800ks
