Well the rolling chassis with a heap of parts including a spare crown wheel & pinion arrived at Easter. While crown wheel dimensions & ratios are the same, discovered it's not compatible with my pinion drive bugger it (different prop shafts between 1928 & 1929). I'm rapidly learning that my 1928 chassis is less common so it looks like best solution is to transfer my body to the more common and better suspended 1929 Chassis, especially as it's still registered as a Porlock. Also looking if it's possible to jam the 29 rear axle into the 28 chassis, but with the different spring set-ups I'm sure there will be a catch.
While looking for parts in ChCh yesterday I found this 1931 Junior, regretfully with sedan body cut off. While it's been mechanically restored at great expense, for various reasons the owner can't finish making it into a Roadster. He was talking of selling bits here & there so I just had to save it. Anyway I have brought it home with intention of making it into some sort of rough Special, for vintage paddock trials etc. (it's even got 5 brand new Mitas m/bike tyres already fitted).
I have very limited restoration skills so will just stick with being a Singer Slut.
I like its' eyes Struan.
There has been an old long vintage car cruising around here lately that looks like it has just been unearthed from a barn. it has nearly no paint on it, canvas is in tatters, old benzine tank on the running boards needless to say It is incredibly cool!
Do you have a strong V car clb down there. A quick earch shows me there is something at founders park up here.

I'm one of the "younger" members of VCC. Parts can be a hassle for stuff that's less common and I can now see why Swap Meets are so popular.Do you have a strong V car clb down there. A quick earch shows me there is something at founders park up here.
There are also specific marque Clubs that are the best source of info & advice. But if you're thinking of getting into this stuff, don't leave it too late.
A Singer Car Club chap who has been a great help to me & visited just last week, suddenly passed away yesterday. RIP Paul Lamb.
That bodyless singer looks ideal to turn into something like this.....
It's my dad's 1920 essex, ideal machine for the Irishman rally. I've done a few over the years, always good fun and was thinking the other day I might have to check on the state of the machinery and head down for another look this year.
Once I've finished with my GT Cortina (well, I need to start first) I really should do something with the '27 essex coupe that's still sitting in the shed at dads place that's been waiting for attention from me for about 20 years.
Riding cheap crappy old bikes badly since 1987
