    Leg out

Have been told it is to increase air break afect. As a flag marshal , it appears to turn thebike early . Often before the bike tips into the corner.

Rather than start another thread I'm sure the followers of this MotoGP thread will have the answers. KBers always do.
It seems to do a bunch of things

    • lowers the CoG and moves it rearward
    • helps stop the rear end lifting
    • keeps the bike glued to the outside leg, then the outside leg is used to pull the bike over on it's side, ie more leverage
    • the rider tends to ride further back in the seat otherwise they aren't able to keep their outside leg jammed into the tank
    • gets riders weight inside the line of the bike

I think you'll find riding style is why Crutchlow is having such a shit of a time trying to ride the Ducati while Dovi is getting Ducati's best results since Stoner. The rearward and lower CoG waving the leg around causes is not what the Ducati needs as it's CoG is already too low and rearward. Great for exit drive but it plows the front when trying to turn.

I have seen several explanations as to why they dangle a foot but yours probably covers the lot.

Crutchlow commented about crashing on the same corner two years in succession at the Sachsenring. He said that on the Ducati he was going 30kph slower than he was on the Yamaha last year, yet still he crashed. That wouldn't do much for anybody's confidence.

He rides it like it's a Superbike. The Yamaha could be tuned to use that sort of riding style because things like weight distribution, CoG etc are roughly similar to a Superbike and the M1 is an alrounder anyway. But the Ducati's weight distribution and CoG are nothing like anything he's ridden before so it needs a totally different riding style.

Dovi's riding style is much more weight-forward so the changes he had to make to ride the Ducati are much smaller.

    Interesting indeed.
I don't imagine HRC would think much of this idea. Wouldn't they want their golden boy wrapped in bubble wrap until..... forever?

I thought there were rules against riding in more than one class. Something about getting more riders in rather than having the same guys take all the prime rides.

Surgery on both arms for Crutchlow

Surgery on both arms for Crutchlow
    Wednesday, 16 July 2014
Cal Crutchlow underwent successful surgery on both arms on Tuesday in Barcelona at the Universitario Quiron Dexeus Hospital.

Crutchlow stayed at the hospital overnight on Tuesday and will head back to England on Wednesday having had surgery to relieve arm pump (compartment syndrome) on both forearms. Specialist Dr. Xavier Mir undertook the operation.

The English rider has previously suffered with the muscular problem which is common in MotoGP™ riders, and has been operated on once on his left forearm and three times on the right. On the right arm incisions were made to release pressure on the muscle, whilst ‘mesenchymal cells’ have been implanted to prevent future formation of liquid.

Dr. Mir confirmed that the necessity for surgery on the right arm had already been acknowledged with the rider after scans in May, but it was decided to wait until the ‘summer break’ in the MotoGP season to go ahead with the surgery. It was also decided on Tuesday to operate on the left forearm.

It is expected that Crutchlow will be ready for the Red Bull Indianapolis Grand Prix early in August, though whether he will arrive at round 10 completely recovered from the double surgery remains to be seen.

On a Motorcycle you're penetrating distance, right along with the machine!! In a car you're just a spectator, the windshields like a TV!!

'Life's Journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out! Shouting, ' Holy sh!t... What a Ride!! '

and yet beaten by Crazy Joe at the weekend. I CBF googling but I think its at least the second time this season the satellite Duc has spanked both the factory ones. That has to sting a bit.

Doesn't matter which grid spot he uses, the result will likely be the same.

If he wants to race two classes, they'll change the rules so he can. They already changed the rules so that he could go straight from Moto2 to the Repsol team.
For a few years previously this would not have been permitted under what became known as the "Spies rule", but MM is MM and is Spanish so...

What's more of a worry is where Crasher is lately.
Last post I saw, I figure he's 'in love' ??? and fully occupied ?

You'd never go hungry with Nigella Gaz.
If it weren't for flashbacks...I'd have no memory at all..
