    Nx4 rs125

So the old boy and I drove to wellington and back yesterday. 1,450 kms which is about the distance between Auckland and Dunedin.
We did so to pick up this thing!

Those of you who have met me know that I'm a pretty scrawny dude so naturally it fits me pretty well. It's an ex moto academy bike (bet you didn't guess that ha) and I'm incredibly stoked to have it. Racing one of these things has always been the focus of my direction and despite my little experience on a full track and with 2 strokes, I couldn't pass up this pretty good price. I'm going to continue to ride my FXR, probably on the big tracks along side this too, so that I can get as much experience as I can.

I'm new to this so any advice, no matter how minor, is always greatly appreciated. Thankfully I know there is a tonne of experience even just in Auckland for which I can turn to for advice so I'm pretty excited to be in the deep end.

Rob seems just about as excited as I am so I'll get some avgas, oil and run her up on the dyno to check everything is running as expected.
    It's certainly not perfect but it's a bloody NX4! I'm stoked.

    Choice.

First bit of advice, give it a birthday.
Piston & rings and seals at a minimum.
And keep an eye out for a HRC det kit if it hasn't got one already.

I measured them and yeah they're 2.5" front and 3.5" rear. I'll likely look into getting a pair of straight 6 spoke NX4 wheels they can from the factory with. Might consider selling the front. You have enough RS bits to last you a lifetime anyway you whore-der.

Anyone have a clue what type of rear wheel that is?

Good advice there for sure. Will have a trawl for a det kit online.
I know there are a number of websites that supply RS parts and there are some key people in NZ like Keith at Race Supplies which supply parts. Pretty happy they NX4 parts are still pretty available.

    Team GPR factory tour

I was lucky enough to make contact with one of the key engineers at Griffiths Performance Racing and thankfully he was nice enough to give me a tour of the racing division factory. The RS125 pipe I was dropping off probably didn't hurt. Bribery will get you everywhere (ask the politicians).

Scott, I'm pretty blown away by the number of bikes/projects you have on the go. Cheers for letting me have a peak at your work, it's certainly inspiring. I'd very much like to build my own frames one day and the work you boys are doing definitely keeps the enthusiasm up.

No photographs are aloud to be taken in the factory due to the highly classified nature of the development in the highly competitive F4 class. So yeah, sorry no photographs of the pristinely clean and organised work space. You'll have to bribe Scott yourself for entry to that theme park.

Hope you didn't burn down the property when I left Kerry haha

    Like one of these??

I think the rear is the later model.
Steveb managed to get lots of bits out of the states (might be a good idea to have a chat to him about the bike as well)...

Yeah those are the ones, the factory NX4 wheels. The rear on my RS isn't one of those though, it's spokes are curvy.
Can you please weigh it for me Bert, I'd like to compare with this Techno front of mine.

About 3.8 with disk. But scales are shit (too heavy for wife's kitchen scales and too lite for bathroom scales)...

If the rear is slotted at the back of the spokes then my pick is marvic.

And I do have it's matching NX4 rear....

No slot at the back, rounded spokes both sides.

Talk to Steve yb for advice if ya can
Keep the rims, light is good
Give the motor a birthday unless you know when everything was last done, replacing parts like pistons and cranks on time is crucial on a rs
    Have a blast
