It looke like the kinda bike I wouldn't mind, had this certain coolness about it.
Its 80's ofcourse its bloody cool, inboard ventalated disc were Honda incorporated a drum enclosure that protects the ventilated discs from rain and permits the use of cast iron as the disc material without the cosmetic problems of rusting. The discs are unusual in motorcycle applications, the outer edge forming the mounting points with the caliper griping from the inner edges. The caliper units are of twin piston design, both pistons acting from one side.

bout as usfull as their TRAC (torque reactive anti dive control)which was found on the same bikes (MVX, VF400, VT250)Click image for larger version.

If it was one of these I bought one new, I thought it was a rolls-royce/rocket ship compared to the GN250 I upgraded from. But then I probably wouldn't know any better. Sold it when I went back to university (too expensive to run ).

The pre-husband of one of my flatmates also rode one.

Have you not heard of "cut and paste" the bits with good spelling are straight from the Haynes manual

Those discs proved pretty handy to bucket sidecar builders back in the day, because they could be mounted inside a RV90 rim.

I had the cbx400f, the Honda build quality was amazing at the time. Mine was in the Rothmans colours. Biggest issues were the rotting exhaust system and the cam chain tensioner that didn't.

Honda always did get that right, the eighties were a bit of a gamble with saving some dosh vs quality.
Then again people expected to get by with minimal servicing too.

Honda seem to have more misses than hits , Can't remember when I last saw a Honda pull up at my local pub on a Saturday afternoon.

VFR1200 been out now for 5 years ? Think I've seen 3 since then

Their chief focus now is the emerging markets like China and India which is why we're presented with bikes like the new CTX1200 scooter V4 thing, whatever it's acronym is and the new VR 800. This is what the Asians want so .... 'I'm sure you'll like it too !'

And all the other funny looking bikes you look at when you walk into an empty Honda showroom.

    The CBX 550 ?

An example of something that didn't work out but, back then things were analogue and everyone was entitled to a mistake or two so that's Ok.

Ohh I dont think so, when honda brought the CB750 out it changed the world, look at there GP history with the 6's etc... thing is Honda was bit of a greenie so shyed from strokers so they needed to experment and the thing is wernt afarid to do so, the NR for eg, the VF which went VFR & RC30, the RC211 and dear I say it CX650 turbo, CBX1000 and flat 6's...

What about Yamaha's atempt at leading the world, the TX...

I didn't mention the hits and the CB750 was a world changer totally agree and they were the top of the world , Hondas best selling bike was the 50cc Step through which made them millions. Full credit to Honda, the only one's I've owned are a CB450 and a CR500.

Only today I walked through Casbolts Honda in Ch Ch and , apart from the frosty reception ( which is usual ) .... wouldn't mind a squirt on the F6 bagger though.

TX500 ? Bad engineering and a slight lack of judgement on Yamaha's behalf .... :-)
