Postmodern Jukebox is a rotating group of musicians that do covers of popular music in the Jazz/Ragtime/Swing style. The main man is a guy called Scott Bradlee. They do some cool stuff.

big fan myself. I think Cooley is one of the best songwriters since one Johnny Cash. Not a comparison made lightly.

I saw them in Melbourne a few years ago. (Booker T opened, just before Shonna Tucker left).

Isbell toured with Ryan Adams a few years ago... Great show in Dunedin.

My favourite record of theirs (and not to go all HIGH FIDELITY) is either Decoration Day, The Dirty South or SRO, depending on the day. The Dirty South is the first album of theirs I heard and I was hooked from the opening chord of "Where the Devil Dont Stay".

I have been listening t A Blessing and A Curse a lot lately too.

I got 350 heads on a 305 engine, I get ten miles to the gallon, I ain't got no good intentions.

Yep, Cooley and Isbell are incredible. Hope they come back here again soon.

The Dirty South is great, what a track to open on - "Well back in the thirties when the dustbowl dried, and the woods of Alabama didn't see no light!"

Title track from Decoration Day still sends chills down my spine. This live version is a cracker:

As does this new cover from Jason:

You want some advice - lightning strikes once, it does not strike twice!
