Well the Wrb protest ride footage on channel three news tonight was a total embarrassment to motorcyclists everywhere.
Cheers guys, thanks for making us all look like uninformed knob ends with incredibly poor dress sense.
TVNZ version.
TV3 version.
Yeah, we watched the TVNZ story and the non riding wife commented on how they rode on the flush median and then in to the oncoming lane. I commented on the beards mainly, and the leather and the badges. The TV will edit things how they see fit, the only thing I took from the story was the BS statistic that some rider was maimed every two weeks by hitting wire rope barriers and that MP probably has a Harley in his garage.
Whether we like them or not, WRBs are here to stay.
I'd be more inclined to support a movement arguing for safety improvements to WRBs, and in fact all roadside and median barriers, to make them less dangerous to a motorcyclist in the unfortunate event of an off.
Work has been done on parts of the Coromandel to improve the safety and survivability of roadside barriers. It would be sensible to encourage the extension of such work to other roadside and median barriers.
TVI last night. I find the riding behaviour @ around the 1:27 mark interesting. And again at what the female says at the@ the :25 sec mark. I know of one that has died as a result of hitting a wire rope barrier. Cheese Barriers?wouldn't be so bad.
