It's very easy to get so far away from the mainstream that you're in an alternate reality.

I'm on a US based forum where there are several living down that rabbit hole. When someone posts a link to MSM it's ridiculed simply because it is mainstream.

Personally I stay on centerist or center left biased sites. The only US based news site I loiok at is Politico.
You could say that, but if the onlineMedia sources had to be held to the same broadcasting standards like NZ and other first world countries the problem would disappear.
Funny that the conspiracy and right-wing ones get all bent out of shape about the censorship" when they talk about having to have control by private organisations to prevent the spreading of false information like alex jones when they were removed.

When you say "the right" do you mean the extremist right, right right, middle right or left right?

    Or all of the above?

One needs to be more specific before one make such generalized statements, which is the norm for most posters in this thread.

Also isn't time to start a thread about President Elect Joe Bidin? After all this thread is suppose to be about outgoing President Trump.

    Just saying..

Social media is now a victim of it's own success, I doubt if President Trump will be the last President to try and bring some legislative accountability to it.

But media is media, none of us can be 100% sure that the way something is reported by anyone, social, mainstream or otherwise is objectively 'accurate'. In the same way that any historical document has to be read and understood in the context of the person writing it at the time, not taken at face value.

What worries me is that the level of 'belief without question' that used to be reserved for religion seems to be being transferred onto politics, where it has the potential to be a whole lot more dangerous.

President Trump really believes that he won the election, despite not being able to prove it to any official level of satisfaction. That's really scary to me, and why we're getting Secretaries of Defence publishing letters warning him not to use the armed forces to subvert the democratic process. Yikes.

A black senator from Georgia. Let that sink in.

Looks like the blame game has already started.

Same, it is a cyclic thing with him. He loses the plot and gets put in the naughty corner cos he can't control his childish emotional outbursts. Then he flounces off in a huff and doesn't post for weeks before poking his troll-like bonce around the door again.

If you are in a position to do so, turn on CNN. Trump supporters have invaded the Capitol building. The business of Congress (confirming the election result) has been stopped. The Capitol police were overwhelmed, reinforcements are arriving, but slowly. This is all unprecedented.

There is, or has just been, an armed standoff at the door to the chamber.

People like sarah Kendzior and Bill Maher consistently said that Trump would not go quietly. They knew that of which they spoke.

i note the Capitol is under a lockdown due to protesters having entered the complex....

Two states Trump won confirmed then Arizona objected to - as expected.
But as an American on another site commented - Mitch McConnell is finally talking sense - and all it took was losing his job as Senate leader....

Trump's in burn it down mode. Followed IMO by walk away....
