Problem with a TZR and it's ilk is size. Had a ride on one back in the day when I was limber and fit. Could barely walk after a decent ride. Brilliant ride, though.

I've always considered motorbikes were designed for me. (I'm 5'8 and beautifully formed) I never really have comfort issues, I've ridden a couple of 250 (NSR and RGV) semi recently and no drama.

It's modern dirtbikes hat have got taller since like 2015, I struggle with.

I should be 5'8 but I was dragged by my feet a lot as a kid so ended up 6'2.

Avoid 80's dirt bikes, I need a ladder to get on my mates PE400, it's ridiculously tall.

Ohhhh waaaaahhhhhh. I started riding dirtbikes and still really like htem but a 36 inch seat height puts it just under my nipple. Yeah, nipple. a 28 inch inseam is no friend to a modern bike. Meh, I make it work but its not comfortable at a standstill. 'as soon as rolling no issue though. I look at modern ADV bikes and go, Yeah, but Nah. also MX bikes.

Strange, the 400 should be no higher than my old 1980 PE175T.

Go sit on a KTM300 in the showroom for example. Yet the earlier ones were OK. You need to be able to paddle and push off things when you get into serious stuff. Just riding around over stuff is easy.

Oh dear, I take full responsibilty for this thread meandering.

Any hoo, the 4 hundy has aftermarket shocks from Mercka. Bike sits level so I guess they are the right length, but it is way taller than a KTM EXC 300 or a Sherco equivalent. Dunno about the MX bikes, not my cuppa. I suspect the bikes I've sat on are set up pretty soft for local riding conditions, tight, rooty and steep.

TBH my CRM 250 is higher than the modern Enduros I've cocked a leg over.

At the vinduro last year a bloke had a PE 175 and 250, they were both smaller than the 400x. Looked bloody awesome IMHO.

CRM is low. Try a modern KTM or BETA RR or Race, like a new one. It won't scare you but I'm tipy toes and that's no good for hard sections I like.

Being in a field, or a motocross track the height would be no problem (although my fear of big jumps would be a serious impediment). My 07 GasGas enduro 300 is ideal for me. But the later ones got taller and riding a mates 15 causes me serious issues. A mates 10 yr old KTM seems ok. But the new ones are nose bleed height for me.

First thing I used to look at on a spec sheet was the tank capacity. Now it's the seat height. Since I got my new knee in April I now have trouble getting the knee over the Speed Triple seat. I can do it, but it may take more than one attempt, and there's no prizes for style. I could stand on the peg but that would be placing uncommon faith in the side stand.

I'm running an Africa Twin these days, that is the only Issue I have with it. Seat Height!
    Handling, great.
Range, over 300K's per tank before flashing light. Most likely get 400.
Perforance, real good for what she is, effortless passing, acceleration through the twisties.
Looks, well, she's proper Red White and Blue, with every conceivable xtra.
No poblems about touching down once on it, sorted that with a freindly cobbler and another complete sole fitted to the tread.
The side stand on this ol girl takes my 140+ K's with ease and hasn't let me down once, I have no choice but to hop on it and swing the leg, sure as Hell can't swing it straight over from a standing beside it start.
Once aboard, riding it is a breeze, love that DCT, wife came with me for a ride last week around Dorkland, when we got home she complained about having a sore wrist with all the Gear Changes she had to make, I said ""gear whats""
Every day above ground is a good day!:

Weight's the issue for me. If I'm feeling up to a Romaniacs day I pull the trials bike out and cheat. I would have a heart attack wrestling a full size bike through the gnadgery.

Oh, I only make it look difficult.

My riding style involves lots of flailing when things get a bit ugly. But with Tublis I get up most things.

Well I think I'm saying that Jim here is my homosexual lover and general mistress of what I do.
