Fuk what a muppet! Only in America could such a charliton rise to power.

Sadly the disease has spread and even hard of thinking losers in this country hold a candle for him.

Jezzuz fuk krist. If there was a god, which clearly there isn't or he would have been struck down years ago, decades ago, he would get locked up.

Next to Clinton. Heck let's not take sides.
Don't you look at my accountant.

Only in america? There are clearly enough just as stupid voting here....

Like Trump he was sold as a great business man, admittedly he was good at making rich people (and himself) even richer.

Then people believed the 'rock star economy' based on immigration, created billions of debt to his former employers to fund tax cuts, and sold off state assets to leave the country with the current housing crisis.

How many state houses did Key sell??? Also since then a lot of people came home from overseas due to covid etc

Labour fuelled the current crisis by putting people in motels. Now thereÂ’s a game where if you gets yourself there your a priority to get a state house. In the past a lot of those people would probably have found a spare room or shed at family or friends houses to live in.
This govt has had nearly six years during which they could have easily built high density housing projects.
They know how to build big buildings as they just built a three story office monstrosity in central napier for WONZ/HNZ hq. They just donÂ’t know how to tell people hey this is how youÂ’re going to live. ItÂ’s a special kind of irony building that thing right next to where a lot of homeless people sleep.
The days of the 1/4 acre dream are over. We need to stop thinking about single or even two story homes for the poor, we need apartment blocks and other tools can be used to get around the stigma/issues they have.
Then thereÂ’s all the burdens on landlords to provide x level of building. Right now my home could be rented to other people and I could flat with friends whose houses are not fully occupied.
But I need to spend about 5K to insulate it on top of the risks of damage if I get bad tenants.
I could even subdivide, demolish my house, build a two story town house for me and two small pensioner flats alongside.
But all the nanny state regulation makes that a too costly/risky venture. The work you have to do now for site foundations is ridiculous.

The situation in Britain and in France suggests otherwise. All the sections hereabout were quarter acre but many are now being subdivided and new houses added. My house was one of the first in the area, the suburb is named after this house, although that had nought to do with me. It's unlikely the house will survive me by much. When it's sold it'll almost certainly be knocked down and replaced by multiple units of some kind.

    Meanwhile back in the USA...

Trump's lawyers have slung their hook. Apparently this is normal, the team he had until now were employed to keep him from being indicted. Having been indicted he now needs experienced Florida trial lawyers. He already has one, expect more.

One of the judges is Aileen Cannon. Remember her? She's the Trump appointed judge who interfered in the case in the early stages until the DoJ successfully appealed her rulings. TV talking head lawyers doubt she can repeat that performance, if she tries she would just lose on appeal again. She would also lose what's left of her credibility. We'll see. She should recuse herself, if she doesn't do that the DoJ will likely move to have her removed. There is precedent that suggests the DoJ should be successful.

For anyone interested, the indictment. It's a long read. https://edition.cnn.com/2023/06/09/p...ent/index.html

You just reversed history congratulations.....What an epic fail even by your standards.
The state house inventory was 68000 when key came in 63000 when he finished he also have at least 1000 more houses for sale including 100's in CHCH
The key Govt was who started using motels as emergency housing whilst selling off the state houses.
The preferred supplier was a very large National party donor who owned a national chain in need of refurbishment.

Wasn't that because National was moving people into private housing, giving them an accomodation supplement, because it was considered cheaper for tax payers to subsidise housing than own and maintain housing directly? The accomodation problem was then due to the lack of available housing in NZ as a whole (public and private). So National launched a "kiwi build" scheme to build more housing. Labour then claimed that National wasn't building enough houses under than scheme and campaigned on building more houses than National. They failed to build any more than National, sacked the housing minister and continue to rent hotels, motels and apartment buildings to cover the shortfall. And now we consider tiny hotel rooms and apartments as "housing" for low income families when we used to count state houses.

I'd bet that at least some of these hotels/motels/shoebox apartments used for emergency accomodation are owned by people who have donated to a political party, so not sure why you're playing that card like a winning hand?

The trouble now is that the nore fucked Trump is - and the stronger the case against him - the more likely the right wing nutcases are to start shooting.

And the GOP won't do anything to stop that.

Looks very much like you CAN fool some of the people all of the time.

I think he needs to be very afraid of just one right wing nutcase who wakes up (wokes?) and realises he has been lied to and made a total mug of.
Perhaps someone with a military or intelligence service background who has been put at risk or lost buddies due to an information leak.
Perhaps someone with a close relative serving quietly somewhere overseas.
Perhaps one who's allegiance to the actual security of the USA exceeds his political prejudices and preferences.

    We can but hope!

There have been several instances of people committing crimes in the hope of starting a race war or a new civil war. That'd do it.

Meanwhile back at Mar a Lago...
Nevermind the stolen documents. That shower curtain being in the same room as that chandelier is a crime.
