I am posting this as have seen a few of these come thru trademe now where people have bought a flooded bike and then try to flick it on as it is very problematic to get it road legal. So, optimistic, but not necesssarily because of the price…

My understanding is that it is the cost of replacing all the electronic bits plus factory locks that seals their doom. Whereas those hondas are highly collectable

Didn't go higher than the (pillion?) Seat.

Um, yeah. So like, completely submerged. He was not clear about that at first was he?

Holey shit look at the price...
    https://school-of-cool.com/en/produc...num-brass-raw/
That is $364 NZD plus freight for the clutch lever and perch.

That brake lever and MC dave is NZD $740 plus freight.
    So, thigh stabbers.

I really hate the mirrors. You have to take your eyes off the road and divert them under the bars.

I swapped out my 765 mirrors that were above the bars for std 675 type, but under is a whole 'nother world of stupid.

Yeah. This is where because bikes are lumped in with cars in the same piece of legislation we have to do replacement where original may still be viable.
In my experience anyway, bikes that have been underwater sustain less damage to electrics and other accessory systems than cars.
Maybe better weatherproofing at the design stage, who knows.
But to qualify for re-registration it's replace the specified bits.

The RC30 and 45 I'd doubt will ever see the road again. Collection queens or track only.

I tried my bar end mirrors on the 675 under but couldnt cope and now they are above. I like them because they are shorter.

To be fair thats probably what they were prior to the floods. I remember the ads talking about a "plinth" I think. in fact all you have to do is wash the mud off and put it where it can be admired. they dont need to go. Having said that they cease to be motorcycles and become something akin to my Star Trek Christmas tree ornaments* at that point.

*yes, its a thing. Yes I have... several.

Pedantic I know, but he consistently spells Multistrada incorrectly even though he includes a closeup photo showing the correct spelling.

I must also be pedantic, that was irritating me as well. It's right in front of you......

The problem with electronics being drowned while not powered up is that it probably dries out and works ok now, but the gremlins have been introduced to rear their heads at some point in the future.

But, but ---- they're dirt bikes, right? they're SUPPOSED to get wet and covered in mud and ford rivers and other manly pursuits. So in fact they should be enhanced by a bit of sewage water...

If there's to be a pedantic competition, I'd like to be considered, too. Anyway, I've asked our Ducati friend the question. I wonder ifhe'll respond...

I guess it would depend on the IP rating, or in the case of sewage water, IPee rating.

didn't see the 45 but the rc30 had almost no electronic parts that would be required to be replaced to get it back on the road, unlike things like this multistrada
