I've avoided coverage of the inauguration much as Trump avoided putting his hand on the bible as he took the oath of office. This pic though set the tone for me, and no it's not a mistake he repeated it.

Hmm I suspect they’re calling a bluff.

They (China) are under their own “golden handcuffs” regarding their position as a the “world factory”.

Any conflict with Taiwan, and the subsequent risk levels imposed on surrounding bodies of water, including the sanctions and penalties imposed by others would completely cripple their key shipping routes (East China sea, straight of malacca etc etc). The world demand for exported goods, after a short stall in global markets, would eventually be supplied by another country or series of countries to take its place.

I don’t know how vertically integrated their military industrial complex is, but I suspect it isn’t setup as profitable as America, so I don’t think they want to risk entering more national debt on their rapid rise to the no.1 world economy either.

We will see.

Trump didn't wait to display his ignorance. Spain is not a BRICS nation. The founding nations were Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. Others have joined since, mostly Arab countries. It's an economic bloc, among other things they want to move away from reliance on the US dollar for international trade.

Interesting read, sounds like more of a reason for China to bluff.

Suspect we will see an increase over the years in:
- Series of Intimidation in surrounding waters.
- Minor excursions of aggression.
- Verbal threats.
- Economic & cyber attacks.
- And political reforms.

I sure hope they’re not stupid enough to wage a full scale conflict/war with Taiwan - that would greatly affect us at the till for some period of time here in little ole NZ.

There are specialist manufacturing facilities there that are kinda irreplaceable due to how impeccably clean they are for the high performance chips. Even if you rebuilt today it’s a 3-5 year time frame to clean filter a new facility to production standard.
