Hmm, how do you specify load on a rod bearing? I've only really used them on gear levers so no drama, but my RSs came with brake arm ones from Honda and shock eye can get hammered and do wear and fail of course.

Mine will be floating caliper I was thinking no issues as it's in compression but kicka is actually right it will be in extension. I haven bought the rose joints Yet but I might go up in gauge on the alloy rod the later ones actually used carbon tube.
But this is forbotten under pre 89 unless original equipment like ciba rg500 Herron?

Bamboo would work, it has excellent properties as a natural composite I am not worried about the rose joints as if it collapses it would only move a few mm.
The rose joints ripping out of the tube would be a different story in extension, so my idea of inserting a rivenut into the tube will not be that smart.

gen corse hads a 190mm 3 bolt disc on a smaller centre as I cant afford the marvic ATM I can only go as small as 220 maybe 210mm
I can use a disc from a YZ 89-98 ish which will bolt on and be 220mm down from 245mm std but I will need another caliper bracket to do that and if I did that I would be better using a lighter caliper like the Corse.

I remember looking at a chart with some type of rating for rose joints, cant remember how it was measured or what was measured, $100 was the cheaper 8mm size we used on the LCR in the good quality stuff, as soon as there was any detectable play in them they got replaced, the less expensive rose joints we tried lasted a far shorter time

You can buy pre threaded plugs to weld in, but the plugs wouldn't be hard to make anyway, you can also buy pre made rods threaded at both ends for female rose joints in various lengths although we only got them in steel

Yeah the sizing compared to tube is a pain, so I will have to make/buy an insert.

Having owned a 1982 Darmah and a 1985 MHR Mille I don't even consider any Ducati with belt driven cams a "real Ducati" (maybe the F1 750 gets a pass)

i seen this pic the other day and thought of this post warwick.
The Pantahs were designed by Dr Ig as the successor to the bevels. With bordi and Megoni adding a 4 valve top end.
So even the designer of the bevel twins seen this as the way forward.
The 851/916 and the F1750 plus the MV750 DB1 the 500gp Cagiva, the mito were all styled by the same dude Massimo Tamburini.

Did an 8 hour round trip to pick up the 851 Fairings and screen for the Dogcati.
Dave had made a mould for a 851 looking tank for the st4's which will be close enough.
he has hundreds of mould for all sorts of oddball stuff.

I will get him to make a airbox top as well .To go with with some decent size air intakes.
I plan to try and replicate the last 888 SPO setup.

I also dropped off an RD frame so he could do the underside of the TZ tank he made.
If anyone wants anything fibreglass he's really clever and not too expensive.

I picked up the tank cover.
This will go on with a hinge at the rear and have std pantah straps over bobbins at the front

and i are also picking up a new frame to hack up hopefully next week.
I was lucky enough to score a front and rear bikelift stand for $80


I found a s/h radial master cylinder off a 749/999 and got some bits from Andy to convert to a big ol remote reservoir set up like Roches 851. (or in this case Falapas)

Dave Sewell has also finished the tank and seat for the RD/TZ neverready build.

I have purchased some big bore air tubes designed for use with a Mercedes-Benz intake system.

I am planning to side feed these directly to a set of CFmoto 250 K and N type filters. with the center intake feeding the sr4 air filter from above

Likely getting Dave to make a new lid for the massive SR4 airbox i am using.

In these pictures of the EX Graham Ritchie 888/926. This is the std mounting system used on a Corse Ducati 926. Graham, I think i read was the last guy to qualify on a 888 in WSB
These are the std Pantah straps. i intend to replicate this along with the mounting of the tank on spacers to give it room for more air flow inthe the airbox.
This system as well as being simple will be using std ducati monster and pantah parts will allow a cover to be rigid at the rear so it can be gripped with your knees and still pivot easily out of the way to access plugs tank and airbox tps, etc..

This is the clutch radial master cylinder i found.


The budget currently doesn't stretch to a Billet Brembo GP style.


But I am confident i can modify this to be a remote reservoir
The 999 749 setup is the weirdest, ugliest setup i have seen
it actually has an internal bleed inside the reservoir as std


The std Brembo bits I got from Ducati spares (shameless plug) should allow it to be converted to remote and pretty
Now why would i do this well because Roche had one thats bloody why
Funny enough, a billet radial clutch was std right from Lucky first bike.
I was under $100 and came complete with a braided line and also the slave, which means after i rebuild it, i will have a spare.

Are you meaning what's the advantage of the remote mounting the reservoir.
If you are, its mainly packaging and I guess cooling.
If you mean putting them on the yoke rather than on bar it would also center the mass same as weight on a wheel at the outside vs the hub.
Plus crash resistance/ resiliance.
It might also free up some space, for example to remove the clutch on my sons cbr600rr a few days ago, I had to move the switch block and the entire perch to get access around the fairing. race bikes need to be fast to repair and adjust.
On the 851 Ducati, lots of stuff was moved to get the weight forward battery at side of engine ECU at front. (Although some of that might be for cooling.)
The hose also provides additional capacity; some race bikes, like the Honda RS125R, had a capped hose as a reservoir.
plus it looks ubber cool.
I have never figured out what the John McEnroe sweat bands on the masters are for other than maybe if it leaks?


If you mean the radial master cylinder itself its direct action with no pivot. So its meant to give a better feel.
TBH I have never tried back to back but GP bikes had these set up from the late 80's,road bike took a while to follow. So maybe its not a massive leap forward.
With some you can also alter the ratio.

Some stuff from the 80's they never continued on with, floating rear brake calipers etc......it doesn't mean they were bad ideas just the problem could be solved another way.

I think you will find they also wore sweat bands on wrists to avoid I guess sweaty hands losing grip on the racket. Not sure if both wrists, they only use one racket at a time I believe but I think it should be two and two balls. Gotta be something to make the game interesting.

Maybe solar heating of the reservoirs was suspected in hot countries? One person did it, then. . .

According to Ducati:

They are called socks BTW.
