That's quite a title, not sure how it'd look on my CV.
Regardless, you taking a discussion thread personally is not of my concern.
I was comparing the attitudes and opinions towards that of the OP, not the question itself. Rafiki said it best: "Look....haaaarder."Originally Posted by Sanx

Ah well, if you actually had a mph speedo, that might be different. You were suggesting claiming you thought you had one (implying you didn't). Of course, if someone actually checks your speedo you're screwed.
If you think the limit is 100mph (and you're doing close to that) and it's actually 100km/h, then you're still well over ...As for thinking the speed limit is 100 MPH then getting pinged @ 153 KPH you would still be under the limit ... 100 MPH = 160 KPH![]()

Glad to add a laugh to your day.....
I was gutted at the time, but from that court appearance and a few others in the years after that I have learnt alot, especially that it's not beneath some police officers to lie through their teeth, and to dispute EVERYTHING!!!...
I was pretty naive as a youth and thought that the courts and law in this country were fair and just.....![]()

Nope... committing offence using your vehicle = no insurance.
Clean record helps... remorse helps too... some good advice here...
Also just to throw a spanner into the works, it depends on the court in your area too, as I have seen people turn up tidy and get treated well with minimal fines because of them tidying up for court, then the next day, they get hammered with big fines because they look like they can afford it. A fickle bunch, them judges/JP's...
WHO SEZ YOUR GONNA GET CAUGHT?,LEAVE HIM IN YOUR WAKE MATE,APART FROM THAT,IVE SOLD A 1100GSXR TO A GUY WHO OWNED IT FOR A WEEK,AN OLD LADY DRIVING A CAR AND TRAILER DONE A U TURN IN FRONT OF HIM,HE HIT HER AND HE DIED ON IMPACT,HE JUST HAD KIDS,AND HIS PARTNER HAD JUST LET HIM GET A BIKE....SO WHO DO YOU FEEL SORRY FOR NOW?THE BIKER OR THE LADY?
DUCATI ALL THE WAY!!!
Not technically correct as a lot of accidents covered by Insurance have committed an offence.
Failing to Take Reasonable Care is the exclusion and 'Wrecklessness' has to be established which in a 'Runner' situation would be easy to establish.
Of course I am just being picky...your are of course correct Patrick...![]()
I have been really surprised by some of the moralistic comments so far! That was bad luck Zelto, but you have taken a fair cop on the chin, and havent wined about it. More power to you, and hopefully the consequences wont be dire. For me, speeding seems to be a reality of bike ownership, as long as the risks are held in perspective. I know my big cop will be when and not if[and for the moralists,it could be a big bin also/later/sooner?], but I understand the risks, try to minimise them, and enjoy the freedom. This thread has reinforced my committment to get a good radar setup asap!![]()
well, bummer. I would try to get out of it, radars are not all that accurate in some situations, if you can prove that you may keep your licence. they have been known to clock garage doors doing 20 km/h. I guess take it on the chin a bit, but argue that you travelled 148 ish and the radar was tricked by angle or some crap.
worth a try if you don't piss off the judge. there is info around to back up the argument.

I think that if there is no question of DUI or whatever that you can apply for a work licence immediately (but I dont know for sure). Last one I referred cost the guy ~ $1500 plus GST plus filing fees etc (I dont do that sort of work). That was cheap compared to getting sacked, which was the alternative.
