Is it true that the CX500 motor was originaly desinged for a water pump?
A myth. But yes they do have a water pump.
The owner got the name wrong in the add. It's deffinately a CX500A as Dangerous points out. $800 for a good runner that's regeod and warrented is well worth the money. 91,000kms is nothing. My shitter has done over 200,00kms. These things toodle along all day at 120+kmph. Some markets had "Wing" (same as the Jap market twin shock CX/GL400s) on the side covers, hense the name confusion while others, like mine, had CX500. A few varients exist, Deluxe, Custom, Wing, Silverwing, Turbo and lets not forget Euros. The fact there's a currency named after them has to say something ah?
I'd suggest a few folk have never riden one in anger to know how well they actually go.
But then I would say that, being one eyed and all................

And the "Shadow". Musn't forget the Shadow. Any other varients?
You're right there Dangerous!
To my great embarasment I got thoroughly thrashed by one of these at Puke a couple of decades ago.
I thought I was so good on my GS1000S until the bastidge passed me at the hairpin on a CX500........definately a better rider than me but that CX was quick as well.
I avoid playing with Hondas now.
Here's my 1981 CX500A 40,000 genuine k's, good rubber, recovered seat, wof and reg all good, running sweet ... come on ya know ya want to buy it.
Will be on Tard Me next week Offers over $1000
Well changed the oil/filter and front tyre. Turns out its been quite some time since I changed the oil last looking at the log-OOPS!! Bad boy.
Certainly a damn sight quieter in the engine department after the transfusion.
Help load my new purchase into the back of a van ready for delivery sometime this week. Boy it was a bugger to push up the ramp. Had a better look it.Appears its had a lay down (big dent in the tank).:slap: Plenty of goodies to get off it though to keep the evil one mobile. Will definately slap the twin disk front end on.
Turns out the chappy I bought it off has few other bits n peices at home, which I'll collect next week.
