Late 80's on my '84 RG250
Never done it again![]()
Year - 1984
Place - M25 (UK)
Bike - RD350LC (With full race fairing / clip ons)
Speed - 120mph
I was doing 110mph, tucked behind screen and was soon 120mph.......
Had to be on a mates GT250 back in 1972, (the same bike that an unnamed person may have set the NZ Nude Land Speed Record on Xmas day on the main street of Taumaranui)...of course it was a closed road due to all the spectators being in a state of shock![]()
RIDE THE ROAD....RACE THE TRACK.....DRAG THE STRIP......NODMAN....retired(now whose happy?)
1970
View Road, Mt Eden, at night, after a few.........mate turns up at the flat with his 69 H1, so....of course....get in line and........
The hard part was stopping before flying across Dominion Rd into Tads Takeaway bar............
“- He felt that his whole life was some kind of dream and he sometimes wondered whose it was and whether they were enjoying it.”
100mph , Suzuki 250X7, young an stupid
200mph (well almost) ZX10R race bike, heavily modded "running in" indicated 313 , - on a very quiet long road........![]()
Can't remember, but may be my 1984 Honda .....2 stroke 250 with 3 cylinders....I cracked the ton (along with other things on a ride not too much later).
Yes, I remember what it was, but i'm not going to jinx the board by writing it's name here.
(Those who can fill in the dots will know what i'm talking about, those that can't won't have a clue what one is anyway...)
My next bike, a CBR400 went over the ton LOTS! Then I was young and stupid!
about 1985 as a 15yr old on a RG500 then a week later on GS1000 on main road in Te Atatu Nth

RG150
Frontstraight @ manfield
180KMH indicated probably around 100MPH.
Never ridden the bike before, jumped on it and got a 6th place.
On a Yamaha TX650 in the 70's out on the Hauraki plains
1990 on a 1981 (?) RD350LC (converted 250).
Speedo said 175 km/hr or something like that.
Back road out of Palmy North (on my way to the rocket).
Had no licence for them to take off me.
(Have since grown up.)
Measure once, cut twice. Practice makes perfect.
Has anyone noticed how alot of people first break the ton on 250s? Makes ya realize how bloody stupid our license system is!!!!....heck a guy can get his learners one day and be killed on the next day!
LIke a few others , on a 81` RD350LC , 200k mark on a zzr11 , 240 mark on the mighty bird ( all done in a controlled enviroment, closed road ) maybe not closed , but it was empty at the time .
78 (I think) on my brothers zook GT380 that he put chambers on. Does downhill count? Cos it wouldn't crack the ton on the flat.
Was on my first bike, a Kawasaki GPX250 not sure what year but they
haven't changed.
