Was a lot of fun, a big thanks to all, it was interesting to see all the bikes lined up at BK then watching all the folks who parked their cages in a position so that the would walk past all the bikes to get into to the store.

It was nice to meet many of you, hopefully someone post a decent after ride report.

To those who missed out this time due to other commitments, judging by the comments of some this will become a regular event so there is always next time

Well that was good, even though I nearly burnt y mnounth off/out scoffing fish and chips before jumping on the bike, and remembering I aint put any gas in... it was 6pm already. And once on the road remember that I had forgot my camera...
Well I did make it by a hairs breath, but who put all the frekin gates and changed the layout of the BK car park. A bit of cross country and J riding I made it in the end, and a shit load of bikes.
A good ride in all, a long time since I had been to Halswell in that direction, I was almost lost, esp with the sunning beeing and burning my eyes so everything looked white.

It only got colder and colder gebbies was 5 then 4 degress coming down the other side.
The beer was nice and chilling... like I needed to chill down!!!
The rockin rollin road around the the tunnel made the bladder The loose gravel that was sign posted, but kinda ignored. Then through to the mighty Speights ale house (never had been there) Toilet and while walking out and then back in a couple coming out complementing with disgusted comments about expensive stuff... nice place though, and I never found anything expensive ???
And then the run home to home... the iceacle came up on the dash as the temp sunk to 3 degrees C.
Oh glad to sit here and have this coffee.

Looking forward to warmer and longer daylight hours.... and I will remember sunglasses for those ones.

Awesome ride guys!! There was 25 bikes in total, which was alot more than I expected, so thats great. If anyones got suggestions for different routes, that would be really helpful.

    See you all next week

    That was cool.

Thanks to all who made the effort and showed up, really made it worthwhile. When phoenix PMed me saying what did I reckon about starting one up, I said that I was keen but that it'd most likely take a while to catch on... we honestly thought it'd be us, plus maybe a half dozen other bikes, tops. Then with the weather earlier today, we thought we'd have to call it off... but after all that, a great turnout! Good to see a good mix too - a lot of the usual suspects (lookin' at you, D ), but a good half dozen new faces too, great stuff.

Anyway, good first meet I thought, gives us a good base for having a regular ride!

Some feedback would be cool though - what'd people think of...
    • The meeting place? There are others we could use...
    • The route taken? Not too long a ride... or was it too short?
    • The pace of the ride? Did you feel it was snail's pace or too quick?
    ...and so on.

Can't blame people if they thought I was going a bit slow... I wasn't on my own bike, so I didn't know my mount that well (and didn't want to put it down!)... and just figured out I've never actually ridden in the dark before without the aid of streetlights! It was kinda daunting going around the bays in the dark, felt like I'd never been on the road before... so yeah, hope you didn't get frustrated sitting behind me! Was supposed to be a cruisy ride, though...

Anyway, some pics (courtesy of uNople, cheers man ):

Oh, and coz someone will probably request it...

    Spuds1234's (56789) Katana.

Though, if you look closely, you can spot it in the other pics I posted. As in pic 4, in the middle ground, to the left of the DB sign, Spuds1234 clutching part of his jacket and looking wistfully away into the hills...

Meeting place was great, it's easy to find, and has a huge carpark.
It would be nice for a longer ride, but this was a good ride anyway - it's fun riding in a group.
As for the pace - I was part of the group that went the fast way (out through the back roads) so we were going at a good pace. I think that we will split into wee groups anyway - the traffic lights aren't good for keeping the group together as a whole.

My suggestions? Maybe a highlighted map of the route on kb before we go - so that if we get left behind, we know where we're going and can catch up.
