Maybe they are running buckets and don't want to clash or they may wan't to give you the "learn" in Pre '82 like I'm gunna.

my guess is that they have combined both post classic periods? this is how its always been to my knowledge? i guess it was done to give the older bikes an extra race?

    as per mnz rule book

There shall be two groups of Post Classic Road Racing Machines. (a) “Period 72” which
shall consist of machines manufactured after January 1st 1963 and before October 30th
1972. (b) “Period 82” which will consist of racing machines manufactured after the
closing date of the Period 1972 class and before December 31st 1982.

may be this needs to be changed in future?

so that only puts bill vietch's bike out, but hes pretty quick and im sure he wont be out classed

so 3 chickies and we are all in the same race, very cool! Gonna be a challenge

Now to just get the LC off the line in a reasonable fashion, rather than the usual bogging down on the line and starting last...

its great to see we are still getting late entries, we are up to 112 which is the same total we had last year which was a record.

interesting that 35 are new riders. this beggs the question, what happened to the other 35?

i guess they come under the "Broke, Cant be bothered, bike blew up, would rather spend money on other things and the Wife put a stop to it" bracket.

    quite likely...
altho there are gonna be a few new riders for a couple of years as till last year it hadn't been run for quite a number of years, how many was it?
I can remember coming over to Nelson Creek for the plains MC club rallys and going to the races on the sunday to watch... and THAT was quite a few years ago. I get a wee shiver to think that I'm racing on it this year...

Could be, does make ya wonder aye, the event is well run unlike the fuck up at Nelson this year, as a club pressie I sent a letter to them and they never bothered answering... so none of our club members are going next year, thats going to be a big drop in numbers for them.

this is the 18th running, its only ever missed one year which was 2005 due to lack of helpers.

out of the 17 times it has run , there has only been 2 wet ones. 1991, which was postponed untill the labour day monday and 2004 which was run no worries.

every year we run it there is a new problem that jumps up and puts the event in jeopardy. Running the event in the town centre is a real hassel, you wouldnt believe the amount of red tape, consents, and traffic management plans needed. there is always the odd business who threaten to oppose the road closure which need to be smoothed over for it to run. from what i understand its costs about 7 x the cost to run it now days than 10 years ago.
every year since about 1999 it has said to be "the last one". but it keeps on coming back. For some reason the town fail to see the benifit to the community of this event, both in visitor spending and the $9000+ we give to local clubs and charities. A paid organizer is now responsible for promoting the street races and other events as part of the wings and wheels festival so that we can continue to run it. seems to be working so far!!
we are only a small club, we dont appair to get the MNZ funding and support that battle of the streets and the burt munro get, so we aint doing to bad. We hope that the TV coverage that our organizer has worked so hard to get this year will give us a bit more exposure.

musta been just me that went missing for a few years then, I did get married ... thats musta done it
I reckon the paid promotor is the way to go. Volunteers can only do so much at times and how many can help usually determines what can get done. I think you guys do a grand job with what you have, always have thought so.
I read about the funding so at least its go for a couple of years, and hopefully as the publicity builds so will the event to a certain extent. Tho not too much bigger, cos its great as it is.
Nelson was good but disapointing with the lack of racing for the buckets (1 race total, when Motards got 6!!!), and Burt Munroe dont wana do F4/buckets, we have asked, (and also clashes with the Magpie Madness rally AGAIN), so they wont get our support unfortunately, tho i would like to go there for it someday. And that is about it for the Sth island these days, i think?
Did go to wanganui last year but only to watch... big hike from down here unfortunately, and they dont do F4/buckets either... we just aint flash enough I reckon. But thats ok we get great racing at ruapuna and levels, and the occasional street thrown in for good measure
