    Date 25 November 2007.

    Suggested route/plan:
    • Leave Palmy 8-8:30ish
    • Cruise on up to Stratford and stop for a coffee/petrol break
    • Head on up Highway 43 stopping whenever people might want to take snaps etc.
    • Lunch in Tamarunui or Turangi. Gas if needed.
    • Potter on down highway 1 and stop either at Flat Hills or Mangaweka for another coffee/petrol stop.
    • Home to Palmy over Vinegar Hill.
    • Should be back mid-late arvo.

    Geez... bloody alzheimers....

Don't even remember saying I am going on this, especially since this thread only started a few days ago.... and my name is in print saying I'm in... dunno how the hell that happens... but hey, I'm keen on Boobs idea of meeting up in Stratford, riding the FH (and visiting Whangamomona) and looping back to the coast from Taumarunui to Te Kuiti back to home...

Failing that the next step would be a "Riderz" re-shaped seat, but that means a trip to the funny farm (Auckland) unless you know of someone reputable thats nearer?
In palmy that can tear your seat down and reshape, re-faom with softer stuff etc etc then re cover... I can't remember the name of the out fit but the repaired my textile pants too look like they were never burnt.. Will PM you the name when I get home tonight.. He said it could be around the $200 mark for a seat re build...

Will ask him and flick you his name..

But in this instantance I know already that there is a couple of stints at least I wont do in one go. I do try and push myself every now and then to ride a little further to get acustomed to longer distances but I seem to have hit a comfort wall an about 100-110k and if I dont mind not enjoying it I can do another 30k or so then it's time to stop.
Gotten better though coz when I first bought the bike 80k was it, full stop!
Couldnt agree more nzsarge..if you're not comfortable you're not enjoying the ride. I know without my "spongebob" I can only handle about 40 mins on the back of the bike before it gets uncomfortable. The castlepoint ride was basically my first all day ride and I think I coped pretty well but was eager to get back home once we got back to masterton. Definitely started to get uncomfortable from there onwards.
Its all good when its green

Yay! I've been wanting to do the FH for AGES! Will more then likely be in Got to get a few things sorted on the Hyo and will have to see if I'm busy closer on though.

I'll pull out at Turangi and head back to Taupo from there instead of traveling south again, also if the direction stays the same I'll possibly stay Saturday night in Wanganui and wait on the main road from there, joining up with the back of the group... No stopping needed

Might be able to bring a few people with me

Went over SH43 from Stratford to Taumaraunui yesterday. (in a cage alas). Road is in EXCELLENT condition. Hardly any slips, and no rocks on the road bigger than a foot or so diameter. And the gravel section is as good gravel as I've ever seen.

Funny you should say that, I was out roaming around the FH yesterday, what a day it was too. Could see both Mt Taranaki & Ruapehu from the top of the first saddle, simply stunning!

To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and to endure the betrayal of false friends. To appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; to know that even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded

well after doing the 500ks today can definately recommend the sheepskin .. road chch to picton first stop just on 2 hours at kaikoura, 30 min break then non stop to blenheim stopped for fuel

did chch to picton in 4 & 1/5 hours with steady pace my butt only started getting sore on the last leg home from welly to shannon & bout last 20 ks .. & we all know I have a well padded butt as well .. so Sarge I can recommend them for sure .. (cheers bonez it was a life saver)

not sure about this trip yet .. need to work out wot weekend I am working as well

also found out today Betsy definately needs refilling bout 180ks .. be more bout that in my ride report that I will prob get to tomorrow nite
Have to Karma ... Justice catches up eventually !!
