Its an offence because your politicians made it so.

Failing to stop changed things from a straight forward infringement notice to an arrestable offence.

Your politicians also give the police the power to use force to affect an arrest.

The dumb arse cyclist is the master of his own misery.
Surely its not necessary to enforce everything to the letter of the law. A blind eye in some cases. Wouldn't that be possible still . Pretty minor offence to involve the effort that was witnessed. Or you just winding us up ?

    I guess so

And your attitude is utterly indicative of why Mr Plod has such a piss-poor reputation these days...

We don't know the circumstances of what took place, if it was just Joe public then you could quite right thinking its over the top to enforce laws like cycle helmets etc without any tolerance.

But.... if the person involved was some low life burglar or drug dealing piece of crap that pays no heed to any law then personally I would support the police taking a zero tolerance approach with such a person whenever they are found offending regardless of how minor it might seem.

This an old thread, but your response is what causes the cop bashing. Of course we dont know the full circumstances. Appearance wise pretty heavy use of force for a trivial event. Sort of why the average Joe Bloggs is worried about the taser. I'm not bashing cops here just a view point shared my many of my friends. You have to have the support of the public or your job would be a lot worse.

Every Cyclist should be treated that way. I'm sick of the mongrels causing accidents and near misses. The cop should have shot him.
If a man is alone in the woods and there isn't a woke Hollywood around to call him racist, is he still white?

I didn't accuse you of cop bashing.

My response is the way it is because I can't be stuffed pussyfooting around the ill informed crap that gets spouted on these forums constantly in relation to the police.

What appears to the lay man to be excessive is almost always completely justifiable to those who have the knowledge and experience to judge.

The more PC we become, the more problems you are going to have. The PC ones make up the juries.
