ohh you talking about that slapper ..thought you was talking bout the bandit

nods well since I am not mechanically minded & Betsy (the RZ) is a bit of a tart & likes to strip on a regular basis I need something that i can get out the garage & start & ride (for a change) not having a kick start will be a nice change too![]()

Was not a problem for me to find parts when i threw my katana down the roadyou can find many new and used parts on ebay too and they are dirt cheap for oem (except for the fairings which are $900 a side
)
The thing is the 750 and 600cc katans parts 90% interchangeable ,so if you need something your not going to have to look far to find it,and you can also source parts from oil cooled gixr's/bandits.
----
Chanceyy Only major reason i would put down the kat 750 is that it runs 150/70 tyres which are not available in alot of brands ,but alot of people tend to run 160/60 tyres so that they can buy pilot powers, conti sports and more sportier tyres ,which comepletly transform the handleing
If ya need a hand or info on owning katanas etc give me a yell ! lol

On the 2005 Southern Cross I got better economy on my K2 Bandit than Mark on his 750F.
Over 5,500km's I averaged 18.4km/l and he got 16.7km/l. I think his max range was something like 270km vs 300 on the Bandit. Not much in it but the 1200 is not revving as hard which not only uses less gas but also makes for a more comfortable ride...
ah yea ,am really keen to hear about how much difference it made ae,as i am thinking of putting on a 160/60 myself but heard it creates less tyre on the road and that a 150/70 is actually a better handling tyre ...?
yea i would definately give it ago ,although they are old technology they are a bloody good overall package in my opinion, they could do with a bit of a weight loss program tho lol.

thats really interesting he got worse fuel consumption than the 1200,as my 600 gets over 320kms on its 15ltr tank at highway speeds (100-130),and it has the same frame ,same everything as the 750f except for the motor and it certainly revs a bit higher than the 750 too.

He now has the same problem with his 12 & my 14 - not quite as big a difference but then I've also got an extra 2L on board...
Riding style will also have something to do with it too, although he's not that hard on his bike. He was posibly harder on the 750 at times though to keep up with the Bandit.
hmm yea seems to be the case with bigger engined bikes being more efficient on fuel than smaller engined bikes, mind you ,your concours must have a fair bit of techno wizardry in it to make it more efficient wouldn't it .
yea didn't think of that ,makes sense him having to ride a little bit harder to keep up .

with the way petrol is heading it would be stupid not to take fuel economy into account .. thats another tick for the bandit .. also thought it was interesting that Hitcher said Mrs Hitcher is getting around 400 ks out of her bandit 650 .. being fuel injected sounds like it makes a big difference ..
may sound like a stupid question .. the k2, k4 k6 etc are the yr of the model correct?

yea well maybe go for the 650f if your looking at a bandit 650 although ,they are im sure, the same engines. that has fuel injection and certainly gets a bloody big tick for fuel efficiency apparently
yup K4 ie = 2004
o have you seen these websites yet, maybe helpful for information from people who own them ?

Yep.
Re: injection - someone more mechanically minded than me may correct me but I think that on injected bikes - closed throttle = no fuel into the engine. With carbs even with the throttle closed vacuum (which makes the carbies do their thing) can still draw a weny bit of gas into the cylinders. Not to mention the engine management on an FI bike supposedly giving the bike exactly what it needs for the given throttle position, temperature, gear, etc etc...
Geez that sounded ok I think - wonder if it's true...
yeah well I want to take out the 650 & 1200 at the same time & ride same track & swap rides at half way point .. mind you both the 01 & the 600 had me seriously grinning
ahh just thought i would check in case I was blonde under the color![]()
