100 kph speed limits on long straight roads for a start Sarge! Well, to be more precise, busting you for 111.

Where's the difference, is'nt that standard practice now? I hav'nt looked at the various threads going on about it on KB but as you say there might be more to it than meets the eye but as far as I was aware it's a local Manawatu initiative.

Edit: it's generated from Levin ACC.

Big bro is watching you guys.

Al should write in about the farkin wildlife you hit, tell em to get onto pest destruction with DOC to stop friendly wabbits attacking you.

The animals I dear say cause more than the fair share of offs, how many car or bike accidents are caused by animals, remember last year the horses escaping handlers and killing a guy on Pioneer highway is one fatality.

I just saw ACC mentioned and it bought to mind ideas for compulsory hi viz vests, banning big bikes, that sort of thing. I haven't received the mail yet so I really don't know what it's about. Seeing as bike ownership is soaring at the mo I'm hoping that any legislation will be sensible and not place restrictions on us.

Edit. Seen it now and it seems like a geniune data gathering exercise Yep, animals and gravel are very dangerous around the country. I simply cannot fathom why the loose stuff is not swept clear. I spoke to a couple of road engineers in Murchison last week and they reckon it was all about spending budgets and keeping the road contractors in employment, rather than constructing high quality roads. Not sweeping should be criminalised, it's not only lethal for bikes, but cars as well. I did ring Tranzit about this but they buck passed. I think I may write to an MP and see what happens.

Joys of rural delivery in the outback blocks hehe, define big bikes, shit there is a few 250 that go quicker than mine, and handle better.
Hi viz jacket/vests won't help car v bike.Same excuse what bike?

Re tranzit and roading, have got the local council and tranzit completing new kerbing and channel at Stratford going out into country, very nice looking it is too, except they are going past the town boundary by about 1 km which is a waste of time and money, maybe two houses at most benefit, and even then there was nothing wrong with existing kerbing.

That is one part of the roading budget which could be spent removing the pea from roads,and/or putting up warning signs.

They tried similar "inititives" back in the 80s when folks of mum and dads era were getting into bikes again. Nothing eventuated in the end.

Dad did buy an R80 though which he's still got .

Good day for riding. Popped into Cowboyz place to see watzzup. Bobby mentioned he and Yod where working on a bike. Being so helpfull and not wanting to get in the way I decided to go solo. Bit late for Gary's trip south fitting the new rear tire to the GB. Stumbled across Blacksheep, Andrew(?) and Donna(?) at Ashhurst.

Donna, on a Virago 250, has just started road riding, so a nice relaxed ride out the back of Feilding, Cheltenham, Vineger hill. Had a coffee in Mangaweka then off to the Kimbolton look-out for a natter. Blacksheep checked in her-in-doors on the dog-in-bone. Turns out they should have been home by then and number two son was hanging out for a ride. Oh well never mind. Apiti pub for lunch as neither of the party, apart from yours truely, had been introduced to said establishment. Tucker and refreshments were had then on to Ashhust, where I seperated from the threesom and headed home to find the grandkids had been dropped off for the night. Connies started barking the front garden, as oppose to backing up a tree, so may just have to bugger off sometime tomorrow so she can finish it off .

Saturday arvo nap, tea and a few quick posts on KB.

Oh-and a little birdie told me some big bad bikers forgot that motorcycles need fuel to start

Great trip down 52 and then thru back of Masterton and back to main road via the cliffhanger road and Gladstone. Roads where dry until I got over the hill.

Good to catch up with Deano and check out his bike as well as spout my usual bullshit to the Welly Crew.

By the time I left the weather had set in so decided to do the more direct route home up the west side.

Bike runs sweet in the cooler air.

Comes out by the Makuri settlement bridge. Went for a toodle from the Makuri end a few years back on the 550f. Should be a thread about it somewhere, damned if I can find it though.

    Found it!
