From discussions with other SV Riders it appears while brisk touring ,as long as you keep it below about 6000rpm which is still bloody quick on a SV, you can get damn good fuel consumption. Anything over the max torque range of about 7000rpm it appears to drink it
Interesting to see that none of the carburetted Firestorm boys can get near that mark of 49-50mpg, guess it must be something to do with the more modern fuel injection system the SV has, because at the end of the day both bikes weigh about the same and same size motors, both 6 speed V1000 twins
In any case who cares they are both great V-twins, and whats a few dollars in gas between freinds when you are having that much fun.
