IMHO I don't think so, just isolated riders. I personally will continue to nod/wave to all bikers no matter where on the road, always have, always will.

BTW: Swoop, that is some funny shit lol

I suggest you PM idb and ask for his opinion on waving threads, I don't wish to be unkind but he might have a different opinion on that! Cheers John.

First time I rode on the open road I had riders wave to me. I thought it was so cool to have strangers wave to me just because I was on a bike.. Been driving a car for fuck knows how many years and never once has a stranger waved to me on the way by. Had the odd one flip me the bird and had occasion to do the same thing myself from time to time but never a comrade type wave. I don't care what sort of bike they are riding they get a wave and if I don't get one back well it's just a case of fuck you.

Princess - I'm up here in Asia and the 'Asian wave' in my opinion is really a 'fend' = arm out, palm down, dip the palm a few times towards the road, means "let me pass, make way, do not collide with me"

I first noticed other riders waving at me when I rode out to Riversdale a week after getting the new bike - problem was I was too scared to move anything to wave back! Things are more relaxed now and I give a quick wave to all except on the short ride to and from work (wrong headspace), some riders get right into their wave I've noticed - damn near a high five!

I wave to Harleys after talking to a friend who said he used to wave to everyone but Jap riders didn't wave back so now he waits until a Jap rider waves then returns the gesture. It appears there is some kind of Jap bike snobbery towards cruisers.
