Yeah, I'd recommend going the exemption way... Photo's on bikes is always good for getting one.

I'm 5'11" and about 100kgs - I find my Hyosung GV250 is just a touch on the small side, and it seems to be about the biggest 250 cruiser. I think your mate would find the Keeway too small.
As the others have said, the exemption route may be worth a crack - get a photo of your mate on a GN250, that usually seems to do the trick from what I've read online.
Worth looking at this thread http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/sh...d.php?t=59445&
Look... Im just over 6 foot, around 170+kg with thunder thighs and a huge belly! (big thighs are what stops me riding sports bikes)
Having said that and descibed that I'm a poster boy for slimm ppl....
....the GV is a Great bike to learn on.
I am comfortable riding it, it gets to 110km ok, and is great for around town... little bit tedius for long trips and frustrating when your following a car doing 90k as you dont have the getup and go to pass safely.
I'd recommend this bike to almost anyone who is starting out and don't have the proportions to ride a sports bike!

I'm only in this thread as a sight-seer, noting the size of all you big fellas, LOL... I need a nice big chaperone while I am here all by myself, to keep me safe (and outta mischief, ya know) ... me blokeys will appreciate your efforts, so keep posting your heights/sizes: I'm taking copious notes![]()
No I am not a Pom - I just sound like one ...

Thanks heaps to those who have given useful / helpful advice, we will look into some of the options given. To the one or two with the less useful advice - correct me if Im wrong but... arent these forums supposed to be places where like minded people can interact and ask for / give out advice without having to be bagged for it?
I guess even decent sites have to have a lowest common denominator...![]()
Oh... and the berg / burg idea (however its spelt...) I thought the same thing when my friend posed his dillemma to me... I have seen them in Wgtn MC and thought that they would be ideal for the larger lads and lasses to do their learners license on but the mere mention of a scooter just about had me pounded into the kitchen floor... Thanks anyway![]()
