    Where will all this end?

Well just for starters, how many members are there on KB alone?

This is one area I do feel sorry for the Police, they have almost 5,000,000 critics in NZ and about 90% of them are very vocal currently.

The problem is that a majority of the "critics" put the politicians in office that create the problems the Police have to face every day. John.

Just done 4308km throughout NZ and got caught on the straights just out of South of Sanson on the straights heading North.
Cruise set 118ish in the dark about 7pm... Two up in patrol car
    (oncoming)

(so can you lock on quicker with someone else in the patrol car operating the radar?) . I would expect so…

First thing he said was how fast was I going?? I said about 112kmph he said 214.

He was real cool, asked if I had a detector? I said yes. He said “It stuck out like dogs balls when my headlights hit the ground..... “

After handing him my licence he ask my occupation,

I said I don’t have one currently and am off to the States to tour on a motorcycle later this week.

He then asked me what sort of bike.

My son and I were just talking about the same thing before I got pulled up, and I am said I was thinking of a Hyabusa or another ZZR 1100 and I said a ZZR and his reply was……

“ If you said a Harley I would write you up!” Have good night and don’t speed!

Somehow I feel if I had said “ I was going to tour in a Harley” he would have said if I was going to use a Japper he would have given me a ticket… Who knows!!!!???????

The other thing he said and seemed to believe it, is that all my detector was only good for was finding speed cameras…..

The only thing I confirmed (Again) is that you need to be Awake!, and if you are doing more than 140 when your shit goes “off” you need to deicide are you Walking or Running??????

The detector gives you a few seconds more to make that choice…You will only know if you were above or below the limit if you stop to find out if Harleys , Jappers or a Euro rock the Stoppers boat….

O yeah and Morcs.. It was not a threat or a Promise, you take it anyway it fits!
Just get out there and ride Mate, that’s what this site is about…hope to catch up someday. Take care!

With the accuracy of his equipment, writing a ticket would have been a good laugh.

if his machine was in mistakenly in stationary mode (ie he had been sitting on the roadside and had moved off forgetting to change modes), and he was moving, it would be adding the speed of the patrol car to that of the tracked car - 214 would be easy - i've seen over 250k locked on with the stalker in that mode. fortunately only takes about 1 second to change modes again.

of course, there's no patrol speed visible/available in stationary mode, so it's not really a logical way to be writing out tickets.....

Just been for my first ride with a radar detector.
Could'nt find a mount to fit my Duc so made one up, finially finished it, hard wired the detector, put the ear piece in, went looking for bacon.

Only got 3kms down the road, beep, beep, beep, some voice yelling in my ear telling me radar band ahead, shit near made me fall off in surprise.

    Unmarked speed camera van.
Went past it, stopped, turned round went past again, guy looks at me, I give him the fingers, point to my detector.......big grin on my face.

Yeah, immature whatever, but it just seemed so funny.......

Got a mount on my Speed Triple, so will wire that too, and swap from bike to bike, and when not in use the missus can throw it in her company car as she gets the odd ticket.

Yep, know its not the answer, but any bit helps........

And that will happen. However it is nice to be able to let the bike run from time to time and enjoy what they do best. If you get 4 years like I have Dooly you are winning mate. I might get a ticket tomorrow. Shit happens but it has been a good run for a good period of time.

The difference is we all ride rural here in the Hawkes Bay and we have plenty of opportunity to enjoy what are, essentially, empty roads. I think that’s the difference. I never speed in the 50 or 70 k zones cos that’s were the kids and people are but out on the open roads, like the Taupo road, it is great to let the bike go for a while.

Going to be a wet weekend. Take care out there everyone.

RD saved my bacon yesterday yet again, passed two cops within a km thought things would be sweet for a while but half way round the next corner RD starts singing again, through out the anchors and smile on the way past.

Patrick I don't doubt you have written tickets to drivers with RD's and I'm sure it'll happen to me sometime in the future but if the RD saves me $'s and demerits the other 99 times out 100 I'm happy.
