True. Low key, low risk... normally....

Sprung, but how? Paranoid on "P" is a possibility... but who knows. Have to wait and see.

One arse biscuit locked up for murder, another for "assault."

1 good guy dead. Rest in Peace brother....

Another good guy wounded... heal well, mate....

The media to make a circus out of this?

geez that reminds me of the cop who ran out in front of some crim in a car.. apparrently in his job description it says he has to run in front of cars to put the spikes down..

just a little... but since you ask...

Personally, I am not so keen on being armed all the time.

Unlike overseas, where they will draw and shoot if you try to have a go, the bleeding hearts here will moan about NZ Police doing things like that... they think we are all superman and can not be beaten by anyone.... look at the tazer moaners.

There is ALWAYS someone better than you out there.... someone willing to have a go, beat you in a wrestle and get a hold of your gun... you work out the ending.

But only here in NZ, would drawing a weapon on someone wanting to have a go, would be frowned upon by the vocal tree hugging civil libertarian minority....... in their rose coloured glasses, damn my civil liberty (or life) for upholding the law of the land, trying to make it safe for them and theirs...

In Aus it's a whole lot simpler than that.
Cops have a really big gun, handcuffs and a baton on their batbelt. They are all firearms trained.
If you f*ck with them - they will use any or all of them - it's understood.

Likewise the States - most times crims use the term 'sir' a lot when speaking to cops.

And any playing-up and a whole truck-load of whip-arse is unleashed.

BTW: It was cops shot/beaten but I bet the cretins would have dealt to any other person the same in the same circumstances.

Would suck if you happen to be out on the turps and staggered by mistake up that drive-way eh??

    Shit there's some wankers around...

My thought and sympathies to the family and colleagues

Personally, it wouldn't bother me at all if cops were given the option to carry a sidearm AND choose the caliber.

Want a 9mm? fine. Desert Eagle? That's OK too...

RIP and condolences to the officers family, friends and all those who attended. Very sad and just NOT right at all...know some really good buggers in the force and it is scary to think about how the level of violence is so high out there.

Respect to all of you sworn officers that have to deal with the scum that exists in our society.

No its not, but would YOU walk into the front yard of a known P lab at 2am without someone covering your back with a sizeable weapon? No, I don't think so - its an equally fucking stupid thing to do. "Review their procedures" I think so.

They do this sort of thing day and night in, day and night out... without problems. Until now... A Review? For Sure.

Dumb arse comments about a cop walking out in the middle of the road to stop a vehicle? See the first three words of this paragraph....
