I don't quite follow...they've been putting lights on the parcel tray for years.
    Maybe I've missed something

That's really sneaky putting lights in a Falcon. I'd never have picked a Falcon for a Mufti.

Those pics were of different cars. I think the message is beware late model, black Ford Falcons

Oh ok...have seen plenty many "undercover" patrol cars over recent years from Hyundai's,Toyota's,Nissans,Holdens to Fords...including utes and wagons.

I knew of a police force in the UK that took a 10 year old Ford Fiesta and rebuilt the suspension and dropped a new engine in it but left the outside looking very plain. They also ameneded the front grille so that at the touch of a button it folded away and a big sign saying "POLICE" appeared with flashing lights. Caught a lot of boy racers who just never picked it for a police car.

Essentially a car with "Fiesta 1.1" plastered on it's arse with a 2.5 litre turbo engine in it instead. The funniest bit was people who tried to do runners from it

Seriously though - we have the Police using various coloured Honda Accords and Toyota Camrys down here. It's no longer the case that mufti = Commodore and hasn't been for some time.

Just as well you werent doing anything illegal Henry or you would have been musing over funny looking lights in the front grill.

Surely you are aware that there are mufti cops out and about - and as stated above, not always in Commodores anymore.

Well, the Commodore in the first pic is definitely a Police car but the Falcon is a Fire Brigade vehicle. http://www.carjam.co.nz/car/?plate=dht748

Note if using the above website that police cars are registered as private passenger vehicles and rarely (if ever) are declared as police vehicles.
Plenty of Police cars have towbars (mufti and marked) as they do use trailers of various sorts on occasion and also need to be able to tow stolen/recovered trailers etc. It probably doesn;t hurt with the disguise aspect either!
And yes, plenty of non-Commodore mufti vehicles around the countryside.

I guess 9 on Sunday morning is a bit early for subtlety. Yes they are mufti cops.

I was cleaning out my photos and thought I'd post these as a service to my fellow bikers.

Make a mental note for next time your tearing down the Wellington motorway.

They must have repurposed it since I took the pic. It had the cop gear on the dash.

When you say 'cop gear' don't forget that the fire boys have quite a bit of crap bolted into their cars too. Doubt very much whether cars get swapped/moved between services, I think they just do their time and then get sold/auctioned off.

But I could be wrong.....after all this is KB!
