As for tests in Hamilton, there is only 1 test site (AA 5X roads) so if you are wanting something earlier you will have to go to surrounding districts, Cambridge, Te Awamutu, Huntly etc.
From now till early New Year it gets really busy. Suggest you book asap

Live is too short, live it to the fullest
I'm 46 and had my car and truck licence for years. Got my first bike (a BMW 650) in April along with my learners. Applied for an exemption to ride the bike and to ride at night to get home from work. LTNZ gave me the exemption and offered to let me sit my full licence after 6 months on my learners, one time only shot at it. I didn't ask for it, they offered! Got it 2 weeks ago. I booked at AA Meadowlands in Howick. Less than a week waiting time there.
Here you go:

Basically you can get exemption to go directly to your full. I got my dispensation for this after 2.5 months of riding.
Its not your experience they are looking for butt he reason they are granting it - in my case because I do a lot of open road riding by necessity.
In fact LTNZ were the ones who offered it as a solution to the 70km issue to me - I didnt even know about it or ask for it.
I ended up with the following:
• I will be given dispensation for date XX to test ride bikes upto 800cc as long as it does not have a “Z” in the model.
• Once I have selected a bike I will be given dispensation for that bike only
• I am then allowed to sit my full licence (ONE TIME ONLY) – if I pass I no longer have to have learners or restricted restrictions – I go directly to my full licence - Do no pass go, do not collect $200 – sweeeeet
o However if I fail I have to remain under the constraints of the learners / restricted with the exception of the larger bike dispensation.
Thanks tank![]()

Thanks Oscarnz.. that will might cut up to 4 weeks off my restricted time -hopefully-
Cheers Tank. Really interesting about travelling on open road and getting the exemption for that. Never thought of that. I would kinda have a case there since I live in the country and SH3 is out the door but don't think they'll go for it since I have a car and could use that.
It was a good way of doing it asking about test riding exemption.
You cheeky bugger!hehe, she is a looker but kinda camera shy![]()
you can't make a statement like that without proof. Until I see proof she shall be classed as a [END OF TRANSMISSION]
I took Oscarnz's advice & got potentially 2 weeks off my ristricted Licence time (if i pass), just by transfering to Rotorua..
Now all i have to do is pass my test and not get shot in the face by Rotovegas cagers who feel that i'm following them too close & get upset![]()
