i thing the boat was worth about 6-8k, it was glass over ply so not a cutting edge machne and the o/board was a merc so not too flash either. weird that the bits of ply wedged into my engine fins was nearly a straight colour match to my purple tank
at a guess my bike would soak up 2-3.5k tops, and that would be everything as good as it was, my lid was worth 1050
the other bike from max's estimation of damage would probably be around the same as mine


so a costly little adventure as far as chattels go.

last night i was looking at my superscooter - thinking 'if i just move the throttle to the left side i can ride this thing'

i told diane about the above mentioned idea, i interpret the look i got to meaning i wont be doing it this weekend

It was a good ride on a beautiful day with a nice bunch of people. I was sad to hear of what happened after I left.

I was glad to read that injuries were minimal given what could have potentially happened. I hope you guys and your bikes all recover quickly.

im so sorry! i didnt know about the accident! at all! i do remember passing a boat in tow i thought our leader was in front of me so i tryed to catch up? when i got into coro still no bikes i thought this was strange um? i wasnt sure if id taken the right route? so i carreid on hoping to pass the lads on the way round the loop? i went to the local cemertry in coro to vist my dad about a 20min layup still no sign of the lads i was going to head back the way i came thru manaia but decided to to carry on with the loop first time for me around the east coast.
sorry things went wrong that day glad to hear no serious casualtlies...till next time steelrider.

May i suggest next time we exchange a "control" mobile number.

It'd pay to make a routine of checking it every 15 - 20 minutes ish. Less if control number volunteers agree to get a helmet headset so calls can be taken while on the move. The most effective set up would involve 2 control riders (1 at the front and 1 at the rear) each with head sets.

The 'mate' on his provisional licence had already binned his uninsured less than immaculate 1100 cc Guzzi prior to the boatie arriving around the bend.
Simply a case of going too fast for the conditions, that were by his own admission unfamiliar.

The boatie did as best as he could.
He took evasive action to stop himself running over the rider on the road and the trailer swung around and hit Mike who was STOPPED on the other side to assist.
What led to this outcome was two up Guzzi rider overtaking lots of slow moving traffic and setting a very fast pace that the other Guzzi rider felt he needed to keep.
Afterwards two up rider came back, hung around for a while and buggered off, the rest of us stayed and arranged transport for the bikes and called into the hospital.
I hope the Police throw the book at him.

Were they a spontaneous tag along or a sign up from here? and did "two up rider" actually cause the accident directly or not.. cause from what I appear to be reading the boatie wouldn't have jack knifed his trailer and flattened poor old Dogyiti if he hadn't have had to swerve to avoid "the other Guzzi rider".

i rebuilt an engine recently, new barrels with matched piston and rings- $540
