Yeah that gixxer is blardy quick i must admit... ya reckon he just had a couple of psi to many in the rear? was he having issues all along? i wouldnt think it would eat the tyres that fast... i missed half of race 1.

It's something that should have happened long ago... yamaha have just mastered the dark art of engine balancing with a 90 degree crank...
Almost. Inlines traditionally fire in two pairs, however having four cylinders firing at different times wont nessecarily develop more guts, it's just a smaller power hit with each "fire", meaning it's easier to ride. It also leaves a bigger gap between firing.

The actual crank is not balanced at all, they've mastered nothing in that regard, and had to beef the shit out of the crank journals to hold the thing in one bit. To minimize vibration, they've thrown on a big balance shaft, whic in turn sucks power.

That being said, they're heading in a cool new direction and it's the first R1 of yet hankered to have a hoon on. I understand it's spectacular to ride.

Dunno if it waould be a tyre pressure problem, more likely the Suzuki is a harder on tyres due to its power delivery compared with the Spaghetti machine.

I've not yet seen Haga look as smooth and in control as today.

Yeah very different power delivery up top end... the ducatis power more down low i would assume?

Yeah the ducati was bloodey planted though, then again the squirrely gixxer next to him probably made him look a bit better....

Nah...has two piston at top dead centre at same time. 1 and 4 then 2 and 3...but 1 will fire on the first revolution of the crank...and 4 will fire on the second as 1 is expelling exhaust gases... 180 degree firing... 4 times 180 = 720...or 2 revolutions of the crank.

How about that Ant west!!! fucking lil gun!!

Actually, most motorcycle engines fire near TDC on the compression stroke and the exhaust stroke. The second one just doesn't do anything useful.

Ahhhh not sure there sonny jim...

Most inline 4's only have 2 coils...

    one for 1 and 4

the other for 2 and 3...

They deliver the spark at the same time.
